| What is Yoga? | ||||||||||||||||
| What kind of Yoga do you do in your classes? I use elements of Astanga and Iyengar in my classes. Vinyasa (flow) is essential for gaining strength and focus. Asana (poses) are energized and dynamic even while they are being held. I teach students how to use their breath in order to be fluid in their movements and transitions from one concept to another. |

| What should I wear/bring to class? Wear comfortable clothes that you will not feel self-concious in if we are in an inverted position (i.e. downward facing dog). Bring a towel or yoga mat (they cost about $25) to lay on if you don't like laying on just plain floor. Bring water for after class. DON'T EAT FOR TWO HOURS prior to class. |

| Is this class for beginners? This class is for all levels. Dancers, atheletes, and those who have never done any significant exercise have attended my class and gotten something out of it. There are many modifications for each position, and I often give alternative ways of doing the asanas for those who are having difficulty or need more challenge. |

| Are there any men attending your class? There are often men in my class. Unfortunately, there are usually more women than men. I encourage men, who are often less flexible than women, to take the class. I have seen many improve their posture, avoid rehashing old injuries, and reduce congestion by regularly practicing yoga. |

| What and Where is AMATA? AMATA is an intentional community in the Lake Claire neighborhood in Atlanta, GA. For more info on intentional communities click on www.ica.org AMATA is unusual in its use of land for gardening, a pond, animals, and its proximity to the Lake Claire Land Trust.
