John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England to Julia Lennon on October 9, 1940. Instead of the traditional upbringing, John was raised by his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George. As a typical teenager, he loathed school and loved Rock 'n' Roll music. Rock singers such as Elvis Presley were his idols and he listened to their music day and night. Aunt Mimi bought him his first instrument: An accordion. Now, if he was anything like my brother, accordion lessons didn't last long and soon was playing the guitar.
After forming a small skiffle band with his friends, he began to play at charities and church gatherings. When he was 17, he met Paul McCartney, a young man who could play the same kind of Rock 'n' Roll that John liked. Paul McCartney auditioned with "Be-Bob-A-Lula" and imediately found a place in John's band. Soon after, Paul introduced a good school friend of his to John. George Harrison already played in a band with his brother, Peter, called "The Rebels". John thought it was pretty cool that George's mother, Louise, allowed them to practice in her house, so he allowed George to be in the band as well. A few years later, after rising to popularity and fame in Europe, John Lennon fired Pete Best, their drummer. A young drummer named Ringo Starr for "Rory Storm and the Hurricanes" was hired and the four continued to soar to worldwide popularity until 1970, when the group disbanded.
He married Cynthia Powell in 1963 when it was found out she was pregnant with Julian. Later, in 1968, John divorced Cynthia and married Yoko Ono, a Japanese Artist who worked with him as a team in his solo career.
In 1975, his son, Sean, was born. Deciding to take a break from his musical career, he stayed home for 5 years to become a "househusband" and spend time with Sean. In 1980, he picked up the guitar again and recorded "Double Fantasy" with his wife. John never finished that album as he was brutally murdered during the process. Yoko had to finish it.
John Lennon's killer will not be mentioned on this page. His killer later admitted that he did it for recognition and fame. Stating his name would help his cause, and personally, I wouldn't want to give him the satisfaction.
