As we
reach for enlightenment while locked within this world of darkness (seeking
Truth, edification and spiritual awakening) we must not let ourselves fall
victim to isolationism (merely working on our inner selves while selfishly
neglecting or ignoring the world around us). The time has long passed where one
could just wander off into the wilderness to find freedom from oppression, and
liberation from earthly attachments.
In this
modern age, there is no hiding from the evil clutches of Babylon. Just as every
action has a consequence, so too does inaction (in this case, allowing tyranny
and injustice to remain, thereby ensuring the continued slavery and
exploitation of all sentient beings).
Life is
an interconnected web. Nothing exists in isolation. That is why it is not
enough to just be a good person at heart. Nor is it enough to be "spiritually
minded.” A strong personal relationship with Allah is important, but it is
how we manifest that relationship outwardly that counts. For it is through
works alone by which we prove the sincerity of our faith (i.e. it is not how we
"feel” but rather how we act and represent ourselves that has an effect on
everything and everyone around us).
If we
truly believe in Allah, the Compassionate and Merciful, then we need to enact
that compassion and mercy. If we believe in Allah’s Justice, then we must
strive by all means necessary to implement that Justice on Earth.
Prayer,
Zhikr, and Meditation are essential ingredients for human development, but if
these things are engaged in solely for benefit of self then the point is lost.
We must not forget that the reason to better ourselves is so it may have an
outward effect on the world in which we live.
The
Qur'an instructs us to build houses of worship, and to pray in groups. It
also encourages us to form communities and societies of likeminded people. The
reasons for this are clear. For one, surrounding ourselves with right acting
people is a good influence and lessens the chance of us being led into sin by
the agents of shaiytan. Praying with each other five prayers a day helps to
break down our illusion of self, making it an act of Humanity (as an agent of
Creation) in Submission to Allah rather than a self serving exercise.
Furthermore, it helps to build a spiritual brotherhood whose bond can be
stronger than blood. Only in such a community will the proper atmosphere exist
in which people can develop their inner nature, while also gaining the strength
(from such a lifestyle) necessary to fight the struggle for justice and
liberation. Only through the efforts of such communities will we ever be able
to create a society where racial equality is the norm, and our streets are free
from crime; where women are treated with respect, and our children protected;
and where people live in harmony with the natural order (in peace with all of
God’s Creation).
That is
why we must not be content to merely hold our beliefs to ourselves, or even
just simply discuss them. We must put our thoughts into action. Now, that
action can and should include intellectual discussion (certainly, the
academics, theologians and philosophers are welcome in our attempt to usher in
the Messianic Era). However, beyond the realm of theory exists a very real
world with issues that need to be addressed.
Day in
and day out the system of Dajjal marches forward in its conquest to destroy all
that is sacred upon this Earth. If we are to stop them from defiling all that
is holy and pure we have no choice but to wage Jihad. But that is not so simple
as just declaring war against the powers that be. A true jihad must start with
an inward purification. Then it must steadily manifest outward.
The time
has come to get our house in order. So pervasive is evil and ignorance in this
world, that even our own Muslim Ummah is no longer a guaranteed source of light
or sanctuary for the true believer. On one hand, you have Salafi and Wahabi
influence turning masjid after masjid and community after community into
hotbeds of religious intolerance (oppressing women, persecuting mystics, and in
some cases instigating civil war). And on the other hand, there are many Sufi
groups who error in the other direction (from those who ONLY focus on personal
development (while ignoring what is going on in the world around them), to
others who are politically active but in collusion with Babylon System -
gaining wealth and status by giving support to corrupt regimes and evil
empires).
That is
why we need to build our community from the ground up uniting mystics and god
conscious revolutionaries (who believe in the Oneness of Allah, Unity of Being
and Social Justice) upon a single foundation (that being the primordial Din of
Islam).
The first
step is for individuals to join in unity with the Taliy'ah al-Mahdi. There
is no fee in this. Joining merely shows ones intention of working together with
those of like mind to achieve change through a common methodology.
For those
who are not officially Muslim but do believe in One God and creating Justice on
Earth, there is no immediate requirement to take Shahadah (the testimony of
Faith that makes one a "Muslim”) in order to be a part of our community.
You can immediately begin working with us on social and political issues while
we teach you the basic concepts of Islam and what it is to be a Muslim. If you
decide at some point to take Shahadah, we will take you step by step through
the fundamentals of the Faith, starting with outward spiritual practices (such
as Salat), continuing on into zhikr and meditation and progressing into
physical training. For those already Muslim, we will quickly run through these
same basic concepts (as well as elements of Fiqh to ensure a uniform approach
in our practice). As soon as that is accomplished, we will move on to higher
levels of study, preparing you to be an official representative of the group
and enabling you to teach others the way of the Taliy'ah al-Mahdi.
Insha’allah,
within the coming years, we will have set up a U.S. headquarters and masjid
(where it will serve both the local community in its aspirations and struggle
for spiritual upliftment, economic advancement, and Social Justice, as well as
a base of operations for the Taliy'ah al-Mahdi's activities within the United
States).
Also
Sayyid Muttaqi has already begun training seminars (where he will teach the
Taliy'ah al-Mahdi representatives in martial arts, as well as higher level
spiritual alignment through Taoist and Islamic yogic practices: from chi kung,
and meditation, to zhikr, and applying advanced breathing techniques to salat
etc.).
Plans are
also on the way for the establishment of masajid in other U.S. cities, as
well as some centers in Europe, and Asia. We are already building many contacts
in Africa, and Insha’allah, before long our group will have a masjid there as
well.
The exact
efforts of the Taliy'ah al-Mahdi will vary from city to city, and country to
country - but the aspect that will remain constant will be the drive to
establish tight knit communities, complete with our own establishments,
schools, and social functions (all with the understanding that we can create a
healthy alternative lifestyle within the heart of Babylon while striving
towards the ultimate goal of complete liberation through revolutionary
struggle) .
One of
the immediate goals we have in the United States is to open masajid in the
inner city with space for a martial arts studio and a small store front
business (such as a café, or bookstore, in order to help maintain the cost of
running the masjid). We plan on teaching martial arts to the youth for free in
order to provide a place for them to get off the street, learn discipline and
possibly even a career. Insha’allah, as things grow we will be able to expand
these goals into establishing schools, co-op markets for inexpensive organic
foods etc. (Long terms goals being to expand these efforts to include obtaining
land for organic farming, and possible rural communities).
So come
brothers and sisters. Join us in our fight for Justice and Truth. Join us in
our Jihad for self purification, and the building of a new Nation.
Alone we
are nothing but together we can move Forward to Eden!
