Steve Cushing, drums


 
 
Steve Cushing has a long and multifaceted career with Blues. His interest in the Blues began in high school and he has been collecting Blues records for over 30 years. He's been hosting blues radio programs since 1972, and in 1980 began Blues Before Sunrise at WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station.  The program has been in national syndication since September 1990, and is now heard on over 70 radio stations nationawide.  Over the years he's balanced his radio career with a career as a professional musician.  Over the years he's played drums behind an impressive list of Chicago Blues veterans, including Magic Slim & The Teardrops, Jr. Wells, Sunnyland Slim, Big Smokey Smothers, Son Seals, The Aces with Dave and Louis Myers, and countless others. He has also produced series of recordings by such well known Blues men as Magic Slim, Smokey Smothers, Big Wheeler, Jimmy Lee Robinson and Lurrie Bell.  Steve has played with the members of The Chicago Bound Blues Band for over 10 years.

Scott Dirks, harp & vocals

Scott Dirks has been obsessed with blues and the harmonica since seeing the Muddy Waters band live in the mid 1970s.  Over the years he's played with many of the greats of Chicago Blues, including Dave & Louis Myers of The Aces (Little Walter's original band), Big Smokey Smothers, Sunnyland Slim, Jimmy Rogers, Honeyboy Edwards, Jimmie Lee Robinson, Louisiana Red, John Brim, and many many more.  He's been playing in bands with Steve Cushing since the 1980s, and with the other members of Chicago Bound since the early 1990s.
 

Joe Campagna, guitar


Joe Has been playing guitar for about two weeks, since he found the guitar pictured above sticking out of a trash can on Chicago's West Side. This is his first band.
 

Mike Peters, bass
