| *note* its recommended that you install another copy of tribes for your server.. I assume you install it to the default folder "C:\dynamix\tribes" ***Note*** if you wish to run a renegades server but have a bad connection.. take the -dedicated out of the command line and you'll be able to host a server.. your ping will be good but everyone elses will suck. 1. First you'll need a copy of renegades.. depending on which version you want... Renegades_6a is at www.deadly-family.com and renegadesmod is at www.renegadesmod.com 2. install it.. if its winzip unzip it all to your tribes directory... it should by default unzip with directories. Make sure that there is a folder called Renegades_6 or RenegadesMod (not sure about renegadesmod) it should be listed in the same folder that has the tribes.exe.. once you open renegades_6 or Renegadesmod is should contain scripts.vol and nothing else... now goto your C:\dyanmix\tribes\config folder and there should be renegades.cs and serverconfig.cs 3. Zed put a batch file that starts up your server for you.. I'd recommend right clicking on it and select edit.. this should bring up notepad and show 1 line... infinitespawn etc etc etc... I'd recommend adding in front of that line at the very beginning start infinite (whatever else).... as an example heres the line I use to start my server... *note I don't use infinitespawn* if you are going to leave the server unattended I'd recommend you do... start tribes -mod Renegades_6 +exec renegades.cs +exec serverconfig.cs -dedicated 4. You'll need to edit renegades.cs and go through the settings to set your server up like you want it.. if you need help with that use the email link on the main page to send me your questions 5. now all you need to do is run the batch file and your server is started, you need to make sure that the batch file stays in the same directory as your tribes.exe or it won't work 6. to stop your server simply put in "quit();" at the "command" line and hit enter |
