Cheapthrills are:

Cheapthrills is Matt, Fabian, Maha, Shen and Daryl. The music they play falls into the emo/emopunk category. The band was formed in mid-November 2002. They played covers of their favorite bands for a few months before starting to write originals in mid May 2003. To date, they have a handful of originals and are planning on recording an E.P. Their main common influences are Finch and Taking Back Sunday.

To date, they have performed at these places/events:

- Temasek Polytechnic, (21st Jan 2003)

- Suntec, Fountain of Wealth (21st June 2003, organised by A.F.U.A)

- The Third Place (1st August 2003)

- Sonic Festival 2003, Boys Brigade HQ. (30th August 2003)

- Takashimaya (31st August 2003)

Cheapthrills compose their songs based on honesty and past experiences. Their songs and music are an avenue to vent frustrations and pent-up emotions. They hope that the emotionally wounded will be able to identify with their music.

They are also constantly looking to improve themselves and getting more experience by playing in more events/gigs.

To them, making music is a journey. They hope to make more friends along the way and have fun at the same time.

It started with 2 people, Matthew and myself (Daryl) who were looking for a new band after the previous band, seven, broke up. This was due to the members graduating and leaving school.

Cheap Thrills was formed in late 2002... Matthew went for the musicVox Annual General Meeting (AGM) to scout for potential band members. There he met up with Fabian, Maha and Alex... Fabian became our guitarist and Maha became our keyboardist and backup vocals. Alex decided not to join for personal reasons.
After that there was still the problem with not having a bassist.

Luckily Matthew met this guy in channel #blink182 on mIRC. He was from TP and he could play both the guitar and the bass. We met up with Shen and
found the missing link. hahaha. Cheap Thrills was formed. But it wasn't until early november before we started jamming.

The music we play can be classified best as emo-punk. Our influences range from Finch, Lost Prophets, Hoobastank, Incubus, Blink 182 etc... We're in the process of writing our own music right now. Work in Progress.
