PRIMROSE HILL FOOTBALL CLUB 1960-61

Primrose Hill 1960-61
This is a picture of Primrose Hill Football Club 1960-61. Keep's Granddad played in goal for this incredible football team. The team members from left to right are as follows.

Back: Laurence Kelly (Secretary), Harold Kelsey, John Higgins, George Sudron (Keep's Granddad), Jack Ball (Captain), Raymond Chesser, Alan Bates, and Brian Fawdon.

Front: Peter Behan, Dave Hartley, Benny Farrell, Ken Tiffin and Ken Paylor.

This is the line up whom, in the 1960-61 season, were the first team to win the County cups- The North Riding Amateur Cup and The Durham Minor Cup. Also they won the Stockton and District league Championship. They played 30 games out of which they won 29 of them and drew one. My Granddad has told me that the one game they drew was the last game out of the 30. My Granddad has been a huge inspiration to me as I grew up, and has taught me a lot about goal keeping. He also once told me that one time after he had played a game, a scout for a professional team had been watching him and told him that he would have become a professional Goal Keeper, if he had only been taller. (He is only about 5 foot 7 ish) He is the main reason why I decided that I wanted to be the one who keep's the team in the game with a wonder save, rather the top goal scorer of a team. I wanted to place this page on our Cheap Thrills Web site for three reasons.

1/ So that everyone around the world who logs on to this site can see what Primrose Hill achieved in the 60's.
2/ To show why he is such an inspiration to me and why I do like to play in goal.
3/ So that people can read about a good team instead of Cheap Thrills defeats all the time! He he!

I hope some day that we too can add a string of cups to our team name. It is my main goal. But I will be content if I simply play as a strong, solid and confident goal Keeper, like my Granddad was.
