Thomas More

Sir Thomas More was born in London on febuary 7, 1478 to a prominent judges family. When he grew up he went to oxford he returned to london to study law and eveually decided to pursue a life of politics He went ot parliament in 1504 and got married he evetually became friends with Erasmus who dedicated Praise of folly to him. In parliment he went against the king and his father was imprisions for it. More paid the fine and left public life until henry VII Died He became liked by henry VIII and helped him. More became known as a patron of the poor and for being impartial. He was knighted in 1521 and in 1523 Henry the VIII Made him speaker of the house of commons. He helped establish free speech When Henry the VIII wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne bolyen he did not support it he still became Lord Chancler. He retired due to bad health but probably because he did not like Henrys views toward the church. He did not attend Anne bolyns coorination, whitch upset Henry and was sent to The tower of london and killed after being accused of a boogus charge.
