Lesson 2
Interstate 4 One Another
“Better Together”
The Point of the Lesson:
God created us to have relationships with other people. When we love and build up other believers, we are showing God’s love to the world.
The Power of God’s Word:
Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples.
John 13:35 NLT
The Prayer of Each Child:
Lord, I pray that You will help me value other believers by loving them the way You want me to. Guide me to be an example to the world around me by caring about others. Show me ways that I can love and help meet the needs of others. Help me think of someone this week who means a lot to me and write that person a note to tell them why s/he is special.
Prepare: (Before service)
Wrapped gift
Preview: (5 minutes)
Welcome from MC:
(Walk up with gift) I’m going to a party later on and this is the gift I’m bringing. My friend is a big football fan, and I got him an NFL video game. I looked all over and found just the one he wants. He is going to be so excited when he sees it! I love getting my friends things they like!
Object Lesson:
(Part of welcome) I would do anything for my friends. We stick up for each other, too. We like to be together and do things together. We even share our things like games, toys, and other stuff. Life would be pretty boring without friends and people we care about.
Kid Connect Question:
Would you rather spend all day with your friends in the mountains or at the beach?
Play: (5 minutes)
Musical Clusters
Play the game like Musical Chairs except, when the music stops, yell out a number. The kids have to get into a group of that number of kids. For example, if the MC yells out “five”, everyone gets into groups of five. The kids who can’t make a group of the called number have to sit down. Keep going until there are only a few kids remaining.
Transition for MC:
It doesn’t feel good to be left out of a group. It’s always more fun to be part of the group. God wants us to love others, and that means helping others feel included in God’s family. Today we’re going to hear about the early believers and how they kept growing by looking out for each other.

Lesson in a Word: Love
What Should I See?
The early believers were very dedicated and committed to each other. They closely followed the disciples’ teachings about Christ so they could learn more. They did many things together such as have meetings, eat meals at each other’s homes, and pray and praise God. The disciples taught about God and performed many wonders and miracles. They helped anyone who had a need. God increased their numbers daily as more and more people became believers. (Source: Acts 2:42-47)
Memory Verse:
Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples.
John 13:35 NLT
What’s The Key?
The believers took care of each other. They met daily, shared their belongings, and demonstrated God’s love to each other. We need to follow their example of loving one another.
What’s That To Me?
God wants us to be kind and helpful to other people – especially here at church. When we say nice things and show respect toward others, we set a great example to the rest of the world.
How Should I Be?
We can do things for others without being asked. We can give compliments and encouragement to people who need it. We can play with or talk to others who don’t have many friends so that they will feel like they belong and have friends.
Practice Point:
Other believers I will love,
Just as God does from above.
