Westward Ho!
Even Canada Weeps
Seeing Home, My Heart Leaps
Bingo 7pm, Our Hearts are With You, Sweet
Let flags wave on every street
Vote Today, no maybe not
Plug the flag in whatever you got
In a Little While will we be fine?
Might be the military's time to shine
Got my trailer, got my flag
But what's that mean, that American tag?
But there's something so American there
Go on, screw with us here, now if you dare
But empty airports sound the knell
The half-mast flags just live to tell
Fearing the Future is now our place
Ribbons take Security's space
I only wonder what the Amish think.
This flag went in before the kitchen sink
This flag will float as long as it can
Till virtual ones can take up the stand
We're with you in Cleveland, we want you to see
Our sports are on hold but it's not heresy
The Almighty dollar takes a back seat
Even while paying, it seems you can meet
Flags drawn on paper, flags at half-mast
And historical moments now with ominous cast
Duck and Cover, terror's way to suppress us?
When even the soulless exhort God to Bless Us?
Folks lifetimes away reach out for each other
Step over the past like a long-patient mother
And reaching out from heart to heart
Do whatever they can, just to play any part
Make it loud and clear and known
Wherever these crazy colors are flown
Nothing's too big to wear these clothes
And nothing's too small, as every car shows
I see the eagles are once again landing
And now we give thought to our nation's standing
Unity rises thoughtless from faraway places
Big statements invade even bigger spaces
Fleeing west in my bad-ass car
Happy Trails, have I come that far?
Welcomed to California at last
Sacto must boast the highest mast
But in a brief SF moment my qualms seem stilled
Till I met the hole my window once filled
I used to be young, but things have changed
