Buzz: (smiling) Is she a hottie? Pacey: I'm not answering that. Buzz: Come on, I'm nine, I have years before I get there. The least you can do is cough up a description. Pacey: Okay. (leans in) She's so beautiful that every time you look at her, your knees tremble, your heart just melts and you know right then and there, without any reservation, that there is order and meaning to the universe. Buzz: She's a hottie. Pacey: She is. Buzz: Where is she? Pacey: Right now? She is probably out having the time of her life… ---Cinderella Story Joey: The loudest sound of all, love unspoken. The feelings between you and Morgan." --Cinderella Story Joey: No, because I'm sixteen, and in my entire life there have been two people who have actually known me, Pacey: Dawson and- Pacey: This AJ guy didn't know you, alright? I don't care how you felt about him, Jo, he didn't know you cuz if he did, he never would've walked away. Joey: I was going to say you, Pacey.--Cinderella Story Pacey: Don't you ever get tired of talking? Joey: No! Pacey: Well, I get tired of talking-- Joey: I don't get tired, I don't know, I don't-- Pacey: I don't want to talk anymore.--Cinderella Story Pacey: So I guess I'm to take it from your angry silence that you're not speaking to me any more? Joey: Nope. (buckles her seatbelt) Pacey: Great. Great, and how long do you plan on keeping that up? Joey: How does indefinitely sound? Pacey: Fine. Joey: Fine. --Neverland Doug: So what you're saying is Joey is like a bus. Pacey: No, what i'm saying is Joey is like a girl. Doug: No no no, hear me out ok? Joey is like a bus that can't go below 50. Dawson is a bomb hidden underneath that bus. And you are the brave heroic police officer wanting to drive the bus to safety but can't because of the bomb. --Neverland Joey: Well, technically I maybe sort of let him do it to me, but I still blame him entirely--Neverland Pacey: The whole thing was her fault. I mean, you know, she told me I'm the one she thinks about. You know, me! And then she gives me this look, I mean what was I supposed to do? Do you know how long I've been waiting for her to give me that look? --Neverland Dawson: Oh my God, look at this. (laughs) It’s a picture of me and little Joey Potter. (holds it for Pacey to see) God, look how beautiful she was, even then. I really had no idea. Pacey: Well, you must have been deaf, dumb and blind not to notice. Dawson: What’s this? (reads a piece of paper) The Secret Code of Pacey Witter and Dawson Leery. Do you remember this? We drew this up the day— Pacey: (finishes) -- day became blood brothers. Dawson: Yeah. It’s our Oath of Loyalty. This is great. I can’t– I can’t believe you found this. It’s so weird you can just put your friendship with somebody in a box and bury it and completely forget about it. Pacey: (nods) Yeah. --Neverland Joey: I mean, nothing came to a head, I mean, there is no “thing”, I’m just freaked out, and angry and I just don’t understand why he would do something like this. I mean, it came out of nowhere, and... Jen: (puts down the book she was reading) Well, if it came out of nowhere, then why am I not surprised? You should ask yourself, Joey, if this is really nothing, then why are you so upset and so confused? --Neverland Pacey: So, I just wanted to say— Joey: About the other night— (they both smile, the tension somewhat broken) Joey: You go first. Pacey: Well, I just– I just wanted to say... that, uh, I’m... sorry. All that stuff about disaster and Dawson, and the ripple effect on our universe – it was all right. (Joey looks disheartened) I mean, what I did was monumentally stupid, I don’t know what I was thinkin’, so... I– I just wanted you to know that it was an impulse. Plain and simple. One that has left my body, permanently. (whispers) Promise. Joey: Look, it’s okay, Pacey, I mean... I totally overreacted. I mean, something isn’t a big deal unless you let it be, and it– and it’s not a big deal. Why get so upset? I mean, it obviously meant– meant nothing, right? Pacey: Right, right, because what I did was a mistake. Joey: Right. Pacey: Right, well, um, I guess that puts us back to just being friends. (they shake hands) Joey: Definitely. Pacey: Great. --Neverland Joey: What's wrong? Pacey: Well, it's the history. It's killing me, how can a guy compete when you two have your own karaoke routine? Joey: Pacey, you're not supposed to compete, we're supposed to have our own his- (She stops) I didn't mean that. ---Stolen Kisses Pacey: So do I. When I was kissing you tonight, I don't think that I've ever felt better and worse at one time in my entier life. I mean, the very idea that Dawson or Andie would find out about us is killing me. It is tearing me up on the inside to have these feelings for you, but I can't get rid of them. I can't keep on kissing you, Joey. ---Stolen Kisses Pacey: I mean just that. I can't keep on kissing you. I've done it twice now. I can't be the one that's always initiating this. I can't be the one that's always giving you the answers. Look at me, Joey. Joey: I can't. Pacey: Please. (She looks up tearfully.) If you felt even one shred of what I feel for you, then we wouldn't be standing here having this conversation. (He walks away.) Joey: Pacey. (She takes his hand and stops him. She looks at him for a minute, then kisses him as we fade to black.) ---Stolen Kisses Joey: Then why did you come here, Pacey? Pacey: You know, for a bright girl, you can be really daft sometimes. Why do you think I came here? (She tries to answer) I came here to be with you! It's as simple as that! When you like somebody, proximity is a good thing, regardless of how they feel about you. Or don't, as the case may be. (He begins to walk away.) Joey: I felt it. Pacey: (turning back to look at her) What? Joey: This morning. Your arm brushed up against me in bed and… I felt it. Pacey: How did it feel? Joey: It made me feel alive. Pacey: Okay. Joey, I'm going to kiss you now. Joey: You can't! Pacey: Look, Jo, you can't say something like that and expect me not to kiss you, so that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm gonna kiss ya, in about ten seconds, and if you don't want me to kiss you…well, if you don't want me to, I guess then you're just gonna have to stop me. (He comes closer. She looks up at him.) Ten. (He kisses her.) ---Stolen Kisses Pacey: He'd never speak to me again, I can't risk that. You know, he's the brother I've never had.--Neverland Jen: Well, Because right now you've gotta walk through that front door and tell your best friend that the only girl in the universe he can't live without- Pacey: Is the same one that I can't live without. --The Longest Day Dawson: Joey, if things between us are complicated it's because you made them that way, okay? Do you think that whatever was wrong when you were with me is just going to magically get better when you're with him? Joey: Half laughing, half crying I don't know, Dawson. I don't know, okay? I just know that I- I need him. --The Longest Day Pacey: Do you think indulging yourself in some James Dean meets Grease Lightening fantasy that you’re actually gonna prove you’re a better man than I am? Dawson: I don’t have to prove that. You made that clear when you moved in on Joey. Pacey: For the very last time, Dawson, I made a mistake. Dawson: (nods in agreement) Hmm-mm. Pacey: I thought you of all people would understand someone falling for Joey Potter --Show Me Love Joey: OK, stop. The both of you, stop this. I’m not some damned trophy. Pacey: (yelling) No, Jo, let’s not forget who started this, OK. Let’s not forget who pushed me towards Joey Potter in the first place. (to Dawson) It was you! Dawson: (starts to yell as well) Because I didn’t want to get hurt again, Pacey! I still had feelings for her, I still loved her! (Joey just looks at Dawson and Pacey and shakes her head) I– I (speaks in normal tone) I still love her. Joey: I... I hate this. I hate all of this. God, I hate you for kissing me and forcing me to figure out what it all means, Pacey. And I hate you Dawson, for– for forcing me to make a choice between our friendship and what I might have had with him. And I hate myself. I mean, I wish we could go back to the way it was, I wish I could take it all back, but I can’t. Nothing is worth going through all this. No one person is worth this. Neither one of you, and especially not me. --Show Me Love Pacey: OK. OK. I just gotta ask one more question and then I’m gonna stop making this hard on both of us, I swear. If it weren’t for Dawson, could you ever love me like that? --Show Me Love Joey: I hate to break it to you, Dawson, but a fast car can be a real turn-on.--Show Me Love Will: I’ll do my best. So, any advice? Pacey: Yeah, you know, avoid public nudity, stay off drugs, try not to murder anybody, the obvious stuff. And one last thing... don’t sleep with any of your teachers. Believe me, it never works out as well as you think. Will: (smiles) Witter words of wisdom. Priceless. (pauses) Here’s some for you. Don’t give up. Pacey: Give up? Will: On true love. It always wins in the end. ---Show Me Love (Capeside Docks – Pacey works on ripping free the "True Love" name off his boat – he finally does so and then tosses it in the water – a hand retrieves it – Andie walks up to Pacey holding "True Love" in her hands) Andie: I have something I need to tell you. Pacey: I already know you hate me, Andie. I just don’t think I could hear it tonight. Andie: OK, look, could you just stop? I need to say something. (she walks over to Pacey and sits next to him) Look, I don’t hate you, OK? I have felt hurt and betrayed, and it would be really, really easy to turn all that anger into hate. I don’t want to carry around that burden, OK? It’s not the person that I want to be, and it’s not the person that I am, so I don’t hate you. Pacey: Thank you, Andie. Andie: You know, hate is a pretty strong word, Pacey. (hands over the boat name) So is love. ---Show Me Love Joey: I've been meaning to ask you something all night, Pacey. Would you like to dance with me? --The Anti-Prom Pacey: How come this feels so right? Joey: I think it was those dance lessons. Pacey: Where did you get those? They're not you. Joey: Why? Because I'm just a poor tom-boy, or because Dawson gave them to me? Pacey: Neither. You see this? This is you. It's not showy, or gaudy... it's simple. Elegant. Beautiful. Joey: It's my mom's bracelet. Pacey: I know. Joey: How do you know? Pacey: Well, because you told me. Six months ago. You were wearing that uh, blue sweater with the snowflakes that you have. You were walking down the hallways at school. I was annoying you as per usual. You said "Look Pacey, i just found my mother's bracelet this morning so why don't you cut me some slack?" Joey: You remember that? Pacey: I remember everything. ----The Anti-Prom Joey: Look, I can't do it, Pacey. I can't give you a reason to stay. I have so much junk to work through I don't even know where to begin to process it all, I mean how I feel about you and– and how I feel about Dawson— Pacey: Then you've made your choice. Right there, you've made your choice. Good for you. Joey: I guess I have. Pacey: Yeah. Wasn't so hard, was it? You should have made it months ago. Saved us all a lot of time and energy... and heartache. ---True Love Dawson: Joey, come on. Even I can see it. Pacey is this year's Paris. And this time, you have to go. You have to see for yourself, all right? I can stand here and tell you that it's a colossal mistake and that all roads lead back to me but that's not gonna make any bit of difference. Words and speeches sound great, but they don't add up to anything. All that matters right now is what you want. Joey: I don't even know what I want, Dawson. Dawson: Yes you do. You want him. You want him like I want you. You love him like I love you. (Joey begins to cry) The only difference is he loves you back the same way. And you deserve that. O.K.? And I'm not going to be the one who stands in the way of you getting that. You're free. You can do whatever you want. Joey: But Dawson, I want us to still be friends and I want to know that you don't hate me— Dawson: They're just words, Joey, They're just words, ‘cause after you're done dispensing your pleasantries here you're going to turn around and you're going to walk away from me, aren't you? Joey: I have to, otherwise I'll never know... Dawson: Stop. Joey: But Dawson— Dawson: Jo, go, I'm telling you. Before I take it all back. All right? Just go. Go! (Joey starts running toward the pier, Dawson collapses in tears – Grams and the gang arrive back home – Jen gets out to see Mitch and Gale driving off, Joey running past her and Dawson sits on the pier with head in hands) ---True Love (Joey arrives at the pier where True Love is moored – she has changed clothes to jeans and top) Joey: (yelling) Pacey! Pacey! Pacey! Pace! Pacey! Pacey: (walks down the pier behind her) You want something, Jo? Joey: I want to talk to you. Pacey: No, No. A bit late for this now. I'm leaving. You can't stop me. Don't even try. Joey: No, that's not why I'm here. Pacey: So why are you here? You want to say good-bye again? Maybe you want to rub it in a little bit, huh? Joey: Look, I don't want to stop you, Pacey. And I don't want to stop Dawson, and I don't want to be stopped, not by either of you, not by anyone. See, I mean that's what this whole year has been about. We've been trying to stop each other from moving on and from growing up, but not you. You're different. And you've challenged me every step of the way, and you've been there every step of the way. Pacey: Jo, departure time is in T-minus 30 seconds so if there's a point, I suggest you get to it. (he steps aboard) Joey: I think I'm in love with you. Pacey: (pauses) You think, or you know? Joey: I know. I've known it since the moment you kissed me and maybe even before that, and scary as it is I don't want to deny it anymore, Pacey. I don't want to run from it and I don't want to let it run from me. Pacey: So, what are we gonna do here, Jo? Joey: I wanna come with you. Pacey: What? Are you crazy? Joey: I wanna stop standing still. I wanna move forward. I wanna come with you. ---True Love Joey: (smiles and holds out hand) Permission to come aboard? Pacey: Permission granted. (They kiss) ---True Love
