Hello my name is Nancy and l was born June 6, 1954 in Peterborough Ontario. I am the sixth child in the family and the youngest girl. My parents were Lauretta Maud (Peck) and Charles Henry Drummond. My brothers and sister are Gordon, Ken, Danny, Charles, Pat and Doug.
I found out l had a disably in my early 20's. It is called retinitis pigmentosa(tunnel vision). I also have the night blindness with it. My oldest brother has the same eye disease and my sister has ocular histoplasmosis. Also a first cousin on my moms side of the family has usher retinitis pigmentosa(deaf with retinitis pigmentosa)which is the worst kind of retinitis pigmentosa. My fathers side had the colour blindness and night blindness. So from my mom and dad they gave me and my oldest brother the bad genes. But we try our best to accept our disablility and go on. I just hope that it will miss my children. If it does, it is suppose to hit one of my grandchildren.
I have three grown children. Their names are Kevin John Charles Harrison-Dec.13,1972, Robert(Bob)Andrew Harrison-July16,1975,Sheri Lynn Harrison-Aug.30,1979. I am divorced from their father-John Walter Harrison. My other divorces are from-David Bolton and Earl Chamberlain.
I am now living with my common-law-spouse, Arnold Acie LaPorte-Nov.19,1944. We have been together for seven yaars now. He got esphogus cancer and lost bottom of his throat and all his stomach to cancer. This was a eight hour operation here in our city of Peterborough, Ontario. This operation was March 28, 2004. He spend six weeks in the hospital due to the fact he got a leak. Then in the summer of 2004 we spend the summer in Kingston while he had chemo and radiation. He only had one side effect sitting in the bathroom. He has up to this year lost 90 lbs, (225 lbs-135 lbs). In August of 2005 his left foot and leg up to knee swelled up. Finally he went to hospital and in a ultrasound they found a big blood clot. He is still getting blood taken twice a week and he is on blood thinners. As his caregiver l am trying to be strong but it is so hard as he suffer badly with pain in his hips and still having trouble swelling food. One day the food will stay down, next day he cannot keep anything down. He forgets lots now and he complains lots and has no energy. He only coaches baseball now as he has not the strength or energy to run the bases. I have gained most of the weight l lost due to all the stress and continue to go to Tops for the support l need to continue to try and lose the weight l have gained back.
I have three pets, Patches,Tippy(cats) and a dog (Baby) which we just found out she has heart trouble so not sure how long she will live to be with us.
I do volunteer work at the Canadian Institute for the Blind and l do enjoy the work and time l put into this office. My hobbies are internet, knitting, rug hooking, reading, paint by numbers and watching movies. I enjoy 10-pin bowling.

One more thing of interest to me is my two aunts that live by me Helen Buttimore-(98 in 2005 and Mildren Rutherford (81 in 2005). Hoping they continue to be with us for awhile yet for they are both dearly loved and will be missed when they are gone from this earth as we miss my mom and my dad. But someday they will be reunited in heaven. These are wonderful.Love you all from my family to yours.
