welcome to the Chateau
From the Office of the Press Secretary:

STATEMENT ON THE NEW CHATEAU PRESS FACILITY

As part of the on going improvements for all staff members and others working at the Chateau, the Cherrie Administration in early 2006 had requested Congress to arrpove a budget of $ 400,000 to move the Press to a new facility locatred at the Marrie Anne Prasad building which faces the Ambassador's Enterence of the Chateau Visitor's Wing. The new facility will be about 15 meters from it's present location.

Part of the $ 400,000 approved has gone to conserving the 250 year old Marie Anne Prasad Hall and converting the redundent room into the new Press Briefing Room. New Chairs have been installed as will as State of the Art communications equipment, lighting and other media facilities.

The Marie Anne Prasad Hall was buit as commoration to Marie Anne Prasad, a First Lady. The Hall originally served as a large high vaulted audiance hall but has fell into redundence in the last 50 years or so, hardly being used at all.

Part of the Cost has also gone into converting the old Tafter Press Briefing Room into the new National Administration of Security Agency's Conference Center as part of the Presidential Emergency Operations Center. The PEOC with the extention of the new space will help facilitate the Chateau in its relevance to the current world security climate and additional threats.

The new Press Facility will be named the Maire Anne Prasad Briefing Room, while the NASA room will retain it's current name as the Tafter Emergency Opereations Center.
