FNS PETER E COLE INCIDENT
Preisdent Cherrie today convened a meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for defence in the Situation Room to discuss developments on the incident of the FNS Peter Cole. The Submarine is beleived to have sunk on Tuesday, as search and rescuse operations have concluded by this morning.
The Secretary of Defense explained the reason for the delay of the infomation as being released to the Press citing Security Concerns as well as a breach in National Security. The Secretary informed the Joint Chiefs that all members of Saliors families have been notoified by yesterday afternoon.
The President was first informed at 2.00 PM yesterday, and convened a first emergency meeting at 7.00 PM. The decision to make the incident public was made at 11.00 PM yesday, and issued at 8.00 AM this morning.
The President has issued a CONRAD or CONAFT as of today, which relates to the hightest Military security level in the nation.
Investigation into the incident remains highly confidential.
