MEMORANDUM TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE
I have dispatched the Secretary of State to a trip to the Middle East as part of the Federation's efforts, as part of the larger world community to work towards peace in the region. Secretary Morrison last visited the region in June when he travelled with me to the region. I believe that lasting peace in the Middle East is possible through a sustained pressure and the work of diplomacy.

(The Secretary of State will arrive for a short visit to Beirut today, and travel on to Jeuruselem later in the day. On the 25th, the Secretary will meet with the Prime Minister of Isreal, and Secretary of State Condolezza Rice of the United States. On the 26th he will travel to Rome for a crisis meeting with the leaders of the Arab Nations.
