I once again congradulated him on his re-electon, and his - I met with Secretary Morrison, welcome, Mrs. Cherrie and othe members of his administration. We hope - i hope you had a great lunch. Indeed, we just finished lunch upstairs in the Yellow Oval Room, and before that of couse we had meetings in the Oval Office just behind us. And Pre - Mrs. Cherrie met with Laura upstairs and I think they discussed issues about Childhood. Ok, We just - I will make a few comments, I will let President Cherrie make a few comments and then we will take two questions on each side. We discussed a range of issues, I think Presidnet Cherrie pressed alot on immagration. He is concerned about our Imagration policites. (Laughter) Well, who is not? (Laugther) This is the - the second time I have welcomed President Cherrie here, so it is great to have him back. I of coursed pressed President Cherrie on various issues, like we dicussed about terrorism. I told President Ch - may I call you Thomas? (Laughter) Thomas, ok, I told him that we need to do something more. I would like to see the Federation take greater steps in moving forward in it's contributions to the global war on terror. The world is at War, and we need to secure a decisive victory. I told President Cherrie this and I think we will be able to work to a concenses in due time. Thomas, would you like to make some remarks - THE PRESIDENT: Thankyou Mr. President. It has always been a pleasure to visit the United States, and I last did so in December last year, where we met privately. Of course I was honored then to be able to be in New York to unvail the memorial to the Citizens of the Federation who were killed on September 11th 2001. After that, I had great pleasure in visiting Honolulu. So I want to thank you for that trip. I however, and even more honored at your presense two weekends ago in Metro City for my Inauguration. It was a real Presure to see three US Presidents side by side, supporting the cause of the Federation. We are strong neighbours and I am proud to be so. One year ago, in early 2005, I welcomed President Bush to Metro City to commorate the Lego American Treaty. We discussed on various issues and of couse I pressed on Immagration. When I lead to Mexico tomorrow, I lookfoward to discussing with presidnet Fox on this as well. So it was natural that i consult the United States on this first. I agree with President Bush that more needs to be done on the front of Terrorism. That is why I have asked Secretarty Jones, my Defense Secretary to visit Washington to meet with his counterpart. We have alot to do. I also asked President Bush on the Environment, and we agreed to work it out. I think we discussed - a fare share on this, over the televison two weeks ago (Laughter) That was very kind. Thankyou - PRESIDENT BUSH - We, We will take two questions, Douglas, you want to go first? Q: For President Bush - Sir, how will you rate your relationship? Did you ask President Cherrie to contribute to Iraq? PRESIDENT BUSH: I asked President Cherrie not to cut back futher on Afghanistan. I think that is something we can agree on. In December, shortly after we dicussed, the Government of the Federation announced it will pull all troops out of Afghanistan.I think, I think that the Federation ought to re consider this option. - Peter Q: For President Bush - Mr. President, you have said in the past that the Federation lacks and has not been supportive in the United States Aims of Free trade. What do you view of this? PRESIDENT BUSH: I think we need to look at it in a bigger picture, we need to see, things, the Federation is a Friend. We need to work together. I stressed as such to the President earlier on, that since he has been reelected, it is high time we worked well. And I see our relationship going in that direction. The Federation press? Q: Joshua, lego News, for President Bush, sir, I would like to know if the American public feels about your plumitting approval ratings - PRESIDENT BUSH: I think we ought to reconsider why they think so. They need to understand that the - the United States is at war. We are at war with the evil papertratiors of the worls. I think there is nothing wrong with such. There is alot of work to do and I think the Federation as a good friend will help us do it. Q: Jeff, ABC Legoland, for President Cherrie - Sir, what is your relationship like with Preisdent Bush? In the last two years, you have met him at least six times. So - THE PRESIDENT: We make good conversation. (Laughter) I think President Bush is a hard worker. We have alot to work with here, and I think I see our firendships growing in the future. Thankyou for inviting me here. PRESIDENT BUSH: You are welcome. Thankyou all, and happy Easter weekend. |
