| The State Dining Room The Chateau 9.55 AM WST THE FIRST LADY: Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Chateau, which has been decorated very, very well. This years theme is Christmas Treats, and from the ornaments to everything around, you will se it s all related to sweets, and any thing to do with treats. Right here in the State Dining Room we have the very majestic and beautiful Christmas Tree donated by the Rotherdam Family from Model Team. Ok, so lets start with the Official Tree, which as you can see is decorated with over 500 beautuful ornaments. Each territorial state and Independent Islands were ask to contribute a total of 10 Ornaments representing what 'Treats' means to them. The Ornaments where then dislayed on the tree along with colorful red and gold bubles. We always have such fun when the volunteers come by, as they did last night to view their ornaments on the tree. As with keeping with this years theme of Chrsitmas Treats, we have the traditional Toprie tree made by Rachel Hardson. Rachel would you like to speak a little about it? RACHEL HARDSON: Thankyou Mrs. Cherrie. Yes it has indeed been a pleasure to be able to spend another Chirstmas here. I have been with the Chateau for many years and i must say putting up this year's decorations has been the most exciting and furfilling yet. This trees are strung together with beads and thread and are made out of roses, and pottisettas. It has many ornaments made by over 50 craftsmen and artistans from around the nation, along with 16 oversized orbs which were made by artistans in on eof the 16 territories. Each of the 50 artisitans and craftsmen made about 5 - 10 ornaments each for the chateau, so we are very glad to be able to feature about 300 beautifual ornaments on the Offical Chateau tree, along with another 200 ornaments from christmases past, and plain coloured silver and shiny red balls. THE FIRST LADY: It's beautiful aint it? I think it's always spectacular but I think this year is the most spectacular. For this year, we got designer Lee CZ to help us with the decorations, and he is really dun to work with. CZA&D has help plan many functions for Preisdent Cherrie's administration, such as the Inaugural Parade this year, and the G8 inRockeraiders, so we thought you might want to do this. (Laughter) LEE CZ: Indeed. Thanks Mrs. Cherrie for allowing us to be a part of this really spectacular celebrations. THE FIRST LADY: Ok, and over here we have the beautiful Christmas card painted by Richard Renoylds. Richard is a painter from Cousinburg, and I am expecially fond of his landscape drawings. This year, I decided we should feature a room where lots of festing take place, and thus we got Richard in to paint the State Dining Room. Thanks Richard, you really know - I think we have sent out all the cards? Yes, we had to sign over 600 of them personally, and we sent about 6,000 christmas cards this year to all the ambassadors and 200 countires. Thanks Richard. Now if we will go to the Marx Guilligan Hall. *** Welcome once again to the Chateau - and James Carney, our Chief Usher, has really been the best person when it comes to orchestrating for Christmas. James - JAMES CARNEY: We actually recieved the tree, I will talk abbit on the decor, we recieved the Tree on Wednesday morning, by then we had some fo the decor up, like the wreaths on the windows were hung on tuesday night and also some on wednesday itself. We started with recieving most of the 18 trees in the house on wednesday afternnon, and we lugged each and everyone in. We ahd the volunteers split themselves up, about 50 of them, and they ech decorated the threes, mantels and doorways with garlands ornaments, wreaths and other festive stuff. We worked from wednesday night through thursdaynight when we finished. Q: Any breaks? JAMES CARNEY: Yes, it was not 24 hours, we did like nine to eight, about 12 hours a day. THE FIRST LADY: And of course we have our Pastry Chef Regent Scout with us here to tell you about the great foods you will all get to try this year. Regent has been with us many years and every christmas he has such amazing creations. REGENT SCOUT: Thankyou Mrs. Cherrie, this year we have baked pudding, cream of Seafood bits, traditional Mudpies and Fondues, Hors de Ovoures as usual and the speciality is eggnog. THE FIRST LADY: It was indeed stunning to see all thies wonderfl foods. We will be hosting over 20 Chirstmas Receptions and so that is alomost one every two days, from now till Christmas. That is quite alot. Alright, you got enough pictures? Q: Mrs. Cherrie, have you done your christmas shopping? THE FIRST LADY: Well actually no.(Laughter) I read somewhere that I was suppose to be the type that would have got everything done early but obviously I am not. (Laughter) Q: Where will you be spending the holidays? THE FIRST LADY: Well, we will be here up till the fifteenth, or sorry the fourteenth, and then we will go to Parkistan and India, and then we will be back here through the twenty fourth, when we will go back to our home or to Attitish. I think we want to vacade this place so that all Chateau staff can go home for the holidays. Q: Mrs. Cherrie, how do you feel about the election results? THE FIRST LADY: Well, obviously I am quite sad that we lost, but I think it is important to note that we are a demorcacy, and in a democracy there will be times when people - you see power lies in the hand sof the people, and we ahre here to serve them. I say i have great faith in State Hall that it will do an excellent Job through 2009. Q: Will Gavin be joining in the holidays? we havent seen him - THE FIRST LADY: Oh yes, he will, I think, we, Thomas and I are trying to get him back here with us once his exams end next week, and hopflly you all will see more of him. (Laughter) Of course we are very glad he with with us, living in Metro this year. Last year he was still in America. And we will go to West Asia with Gavin, hopfully, at least he told us he would like to go. (Luaghter) Q: Will the Cherrie family be up here for Christmas? THE FIRST LADY: We are trying to get everyone up here, and we might all go down to Y Shere for the New Year, so we will have to see how that goes, as Thomas' Dad is not doing too well, I dont think he can travelt his season, so we might spend Christmas up here and then leave the day after for Y Shere and spend some time there. Ok thankyou all and have a most happy holiday. END |
