THE PRESS SECRETARY: Good morning, and a good Wednesday it is.  Today's briefing is spacifically for this week's, infact tomorrow's State Visit to India and Pakistan. I will outline the details of the Preisdent's Schedule and Mr. Salman will go through the adenda and followups.

Firstly, this is the President and mrs. Cherrie's third State Visit this year, the first two being to our neighbouring countires of Mexico and Canada, and this being our thrid. The difference between a State Visit and that of a working visit overseas, is namely that we are visiting based on the invitation of the Head of State, and the primay programme is that of a symbolic exchange of ties.

Here is the Preisdent's Schedule. On the 14th of December, Thursday, the preisdent will be holding various activities regarding Kofi Annan and they will meet at the Blue Office in the Morning, followed by the presentation of the President's toftler, and then dinner at the Marx Guilligan Hall, later that evening. We depart following the dinner here at the Chateau around 11.30 PM to 12.00 AM from the south lawn via helicopter and thus we begin our trip to Pakistan and India.

We will depart Metro AFB aboard Lego One aroung midnight and arrive 12.5 hours later in Islamabad at around 6.30 PM, the 15th of December, Friday. The President will paticipate in a welcome ceremony with Preisdent General Musharaff at Army House, and then we go on for talks, while Mrs. Cherrie will have coffee with mrs. Musharaff.

Following that, there will be some lag time, and then the Cherries will paticipate in a State Dinner hosted by General Musharaff. We then spend the night in Islamabad.

On the 16th of December, Saturday, President and Mrs, Cherrie will depart in the early morning, around nine or so for India. We will arrive two hours later in Indra Ghandi International Airport, New Delhi.

The Preisdent will immediately go on to paticipate at a welcoming ceremony a the Rashtrapati Bhavan with President Kalam. Following that he will meet with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as well and will be hosted to a lunch by the Prime Minsiter.

Following lunch, the President and mrs. Cherrie will visit the Mohammad Ghandi Memorial and lay a wreath in honor of Mohamad Ghandi. After paying their respects, the Cherries will make a brief stop at the Lego Embassy in New Delhi. There will be some lag time before a State Dinner hosted by the President back at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

On Sunday, the 17th of December, the Preisdent will address the Indian Parliment around 11.00 AM, and then go on for a Luncheon with Indian Businessmen at the Hotel. After which, the Cherries depart for Agra by Helicpoter to visit the Taj Mahal in the afternoon.

We then prepare to depart for Mumbai, and the Preisdent and Mrs. Cherrie will arrive back at night from Agra, and straight away we depart for Mumbai, and we will arrive there later that night.

On the last day of official activities, the 18th of December, Monday, the Preisdent and mrs, Cherrie will begin the day in mumbai by visiting local schools, and a universty. The Preisdent will give a key address there about the Federation India economic scene. After which, the President and mrs Cherrie will briefly visit a training base where Lego Troops are training with their Indian Counterparts. They then go on to visit with Indian Bollywood stars at the Federation India exchange programme during a Lucheon. After which, the Preisdent and mrs. Cherrie depart for a two and a half day private visit to Goa, a beach region south west of Mumbai. 

The Preisdent and Mrs. Cherrie will arrive back in Mumbai in the late evening of the 20th, and we depart on the 20th of December, a Wednesday at around 8.00 PM from Mumbai and we will arrive thirteen and a half hours later in Metro City around Midnight. And this brings our visit to India and pakistan to a close. Mr. Salman?
