GreeceMarch2006Plane for Hungary at noon. Here I am in Budapest, found the Hotel Taverna, very reasonable,80 Euros. Have a good view of Budapest Has a Pub, restaurant sauna, everything. Well need to eat. Had vension, mushroom soup, veggies, potatoes, and strawberry Strudel. After, had a short nap. It�s April 2nd had a good nights sleep. Hotel furnished a tour guide, also I can say is (Wow) Hungary borders Cortia, Serbia, Romania Ukraine and Slovenia. Seen a lot of communist states. After Hungary won their freedom in 1989. Has over 60 museums. The Royal Palace (Buda).Started middle of 13th century, finished in 15th century. In 1945 and much of the city burned down. This castle over looks the Danube River is right outside me Patio.
I visited Turkish tombstones occupied Budapest for q150 years. As I said much of Budapest was destroyed in 1945 during WW2.The Royal Place started middle 13th century. The Buda was on hills, this was a city within Budapest. In middle of q13th century, the Tatars(Turks) invasion. Budapest serve d during WW1 and more so during WW2,when the city was in German hands. Hungary life style is mostly behind closed doors People not friendly at first, but after awhile they warm up. They joined Germany during WW2. Well some rain, but after a nice breakfast with fresh milk, fresh bread and butter, on me way to visit through Szolnok, Kecskemet, Szeged over to Szekszard. People so friendly. I stopped off in each town to meet the people. Have plenty of candy, from a shop that they gave me, so sweet tooth will be happy.
I�ve gone through Kaposvar, Zalaegerszeg. Here got a nice roast Beef sandwich with a cold soda, will take a nap here in this lovely park. Austria not to far from here. Have been in Hungary 5 days really enjoying the cities, country side the people. Have finished traveling through Gyor, Tatabanya. where I stayed in a small hotel. breakfast is free, very reasonable. Took me towns in all the towns. Have a lot of gifts so far to take back. One thing for sure glad Federal Express is around, as I�ve shipped good wines from Greece and cheese. Mye Greek wines are Skpuras(white) Tselepos (Red) which seems nutty and very not so sweet. These are aged wines. Here in Hungary got some Eger & Pecs Red wine and Badacsony and Rezling white wine. I enjoy a glass of wine with meals, as I�m suppose to have a glass each day. Got some Hungarian Blue Cheese called Casar.
Here in Prague the Parliament Building built between 1880 and 1902.The Prime Minister with the Library there is a statue of Soviet Soldiers tho fell during liberation of the city. Gillert Hill has Statue of Bishop St.Gerard(Gellert).Died a martys death early 18th century. Time to eat. Went to a nice cafe and sat outside with stuffed cabbage, a turkey sandwich and some wine. Im at the Hotel Obuda. There is a sauna near by, got a bathing suit. went to Romani Ferrdo was originally a Roman bath, which has underground water with salt and sulphur in the systems Nice and hot, well Im fully relaxed.
Visited Girll Baba's Tomb a Turk in 1541 is buried here. I�m beat, after a supper of Lamb, potatoes, nice salad cherry strudel and some wine. Went to a local pub where a local Hungarian Jazz band .Had a couple beers, and off to bed. Now to go visited Obuda ruins of 2000 years old They are in ruins now, past through Erzseket, a big synagogue dates back to Roman times Back to the Parliament Building over looking Danbue River. Seen Crown Jewels of King Stephen,(St. Stephens Basilica over 1000 years old. Margaret Island middle of Budapest is over 700 years old. Rented a caar and have seen cities of Salgatarjan, Miskole, Nyireghaza, and here to Debrecen, here got a nice room, supper a rabbit dinner, mushroom soup, great salad, apricot pie, and the wine was Muskate. Been in Hungary, so now Im off to the Czech Republic. Will have recipes in the near future.
