Flew over the Rhine River to Dusseldorf. Stayed at Hotel Acon, very nice. Supper was Cabbage Salad, potato soup Heidelberg Meat Loaf, Good nights rest, breakfast of potatoes, Ham, eggs, cottage cheese.
Rented a car went through Essen area over Rhine River, seen Herrie canal stopped for water. Will stay in Munster at Ibis, very quite area a block from downtown. Visited Munster Castle, I sure prefer smaller cities.
Well at Ems on Lahn River started in 1324 a lead and silver area, Has a Spa started in 17th century. Lunch was a big Bratswurst with plenty Saurkraut, Hot mustard. and a Pilsner Beer Good nights rest. Breakfast of Potato Pancakes, egg omelet, bacon, juice, toast and coffee.
Heading towards Weser to get a hotel. Small Hotel with every thing. Short nap and supper of Red cabbage, seafood, and Kerner wine with plenty of Bread and cold cuts.
Seen Harz mountains stopped to view Der Schwarzee beautiful. Snow all around, some trees look like Spanish Moss hanging down. Have driven through small cities, stopping to stretch legs. Stopped in Frankfurt dates to 12th century. Here at Hotel Kaiserhof, part of Maiss is in Frankfurt, amazed 2 cities within each other.
Had a Ham sandwich and potato salad with a Bock beer. Supper after alot of walking was Tomato salad, Goulish soup and German Meat Pie, some ice cream and glass of Kerner wine. Well Im resting on the balcony being on the main street watching people and the lovely ladies.
Well having crossed the Rhine where main Danube canal. One can sail from Amsterdam canal along the Rhine River through Rhine-main Danube canal into the Danube River. Found I could get a boat ride. Not too expensive. Had sandwich of Salami, Cheese, bread and wine. Was a good day. Spending night in Nurmber At Hotel Deraz not far from historic old town.
After a glass of "Black Beer" on the patio streets are old cobblestones from Roman days. Visited old town, alot of old buildings some over 200 years old. Visited Hulk of Katharienen Church very beautiful. Sat outside with a Wienerschnitzel and a Weizen Beer made from wheat, very good. Well I dozed off and after alot of walking and chill in the air.
After visiting Museum of clocks and watches. Never seen so many. Im tired and after a supper of Potato Dumplings, Cabbage Soup, German meatloaf, thick gravy, plenty bread and nice salad. Apple Strudel and House wine. Have visited Bayreuth, Melk, Bamberg and many more. Well slept like a log.
On me way to Danube Germany nice room Maritim over looking the Danube. The air is crystal clear. Hotel Vem has a glass tower rises over the Danube. Lunch of Beef sandwich, potato salad, small piece peach cake and Milk. Took a horse carriage through Danube over cobble stones, very exciting day. Able to see Danube dam and Locks. The Weltenburg Monastery on the Danube.
Went to Kloster Brewery, nice glass of beer, been in business for over 950 years. Central Square looks like time stood still. Alot of windmills which surprised me. Been just taking me time, only way to learn and enjoy. After a nice Bratwurst sandwich and a Helles, fell asleep. So sunny and warm. Well before bed time, had steak, red potatoes, potato soup, cucumber tomato salad, bread rolls, white cake covered in strawberries and walnuts and Kerner wine. Got a cupo tae and sat outside. Chatted with locals and off to bed.
Another day drove through Bavaria through cities Augssbur and Lech to Zugspitz, the alps of Germany. I'm in Zugspitz stayed at Hotel Igloo. Have everything here nice outdoor pool. Can see 4 countries from here. After a cup of Hot chocolate. Supper was chicken, potatoes, cabbage salad, tomato soup, cake and ice cream and Riesling wine..
Have visited before I leave Neuschwanstein (Home of mad King Ludwig) Hohenschwangau, BurgEltz, with a draw bridge, Heidelbert on the Rhine, SchlossBurresheim. A lot of castles in Germany, too many to see all. All are very big.
Well Im in Lech Germany with a nice room In the Bavarian Alps. France Italy and Austria just over the other side. Snow every where. turns me off. Rooms very reasonable. Believe Germany has a very high unemployment rate. Hotel very pleasant and everything, having walked around on the cobble stones Cup of Chocolate and Brandy warmed me up. Lunch was steak sandwich and potato salad.
After resting outside and day is almost gone. Supper, Nice trout, Hot Potato Salad, stuffed cabbage with shrimp, potatoes, Green Bean soup, cheese Cake, house wine and coffee. Well will spend night in Isar and after crossing the Isar River. Alot of parks here. and alot of outside cafes. Had sausage soup with Hot Cider ,went over to park sat on bench fell asleep.
The Bohemian Forest is vast in low mountains The Danube is at end of forest, and Czech Republic on other side. Austria not far away. Supper German meatloaf, Baked Potato, Carrot salad and strawberry shortcake, some wine and coffee. Now on way to Czech Republic
