The Portal
The pathways of life are strange, indeed.
Each to suit an individual need.
Life is a grand mystery indeed.
Yet, many parallel along the way.
Some travel with me but a short way,
Others never cross my way.
Yet each connects in some obscure way.
When you reach the portal
You will lose all that is mortal.
On the other side of the portal
We rejoin our friends immortal.
For each path there is only the one way.
For most it is filled with pain, sorrow, and hardship.
But, each is also filled with friendship.
As we travel down our path, no matter the way.
Remember these two things, if nothing else,
When mortal life is done and the portal opens,
All mortal struggles end and bliss becomes the pulse.
For those of us not yet at the portal,
Memory and struggle are our lot.
Everything is one big plot.
Memory is our helper as a mortal.
Remember the courage of those who are no longer here,
Bask in the knowledge that they are now trouble free.
Use your memories of them to ease your travails here.
Our friends, we rejoice that you are now free.
We miss you all, and know that we will also be free.
When once again we will join with thee.
