The Bash

DAY ONE

Friday started out like any Friday. I awoke a 7AM (cursing the alarm) got up and after doing my toilet I got dressed and came down to breakfast. I had a 2PM flight out of LAG, so I wanted to get there around 11 AM. I figured if I left at 9:30 and took the subway and bus I could make it easy in an hour and a half (mistake #1).

After breakfast I did my last minute packing and left the house a few minutes before 9:30 to walk to the subway station. I caught the subway at about 9:40 and after a uneventful ride (I raced and beat an old lady to a seat). I arrived at 96th Street where the express train meets my local. Since there was no express train in the station I decided to remain on my local to 42nd Street (mistake # 2).

The local crawled all the way to 42nd street while 3 express trains passed by. After arriving at 42nd Street (Times Square Station) I went downstairs to catch another train to Queens where I could catch a bus to the airport. I finally arrived at the Airport at 11:30 2 hours after I left my house.

When I got to the airport another surprise awaited me. The person at the desk told me that I was on standby for the 2PM flight (which was #16) and my regular flight was at 5PM (which was #6). I kept telling him he was wrong but he would not budge. Finally I showed him my confirmation # and then he realized the mistake, appologized and gave me my ticket and boarding pass.

After I went through customs I had time to kill so I ate lunch and then boarded my flight. The flight was uneventful and the transfer from Milwaukee to Green Bay was easy. I arrived in Green Bay, was picked up by Marge and her boyfriend in their Motor Home and driven 75 miles to the Metropolis Amberg.

Upon arrival at Amberg I was greeted by Sogipo and Chuck and after some talk sat down to a very nice supper. After supper we sat around chatting for awhile then went into the chatroom and finally since it was getting late and I was getting tired chuck and I left and drove to Dianes where we were spending the night.

On the way Chuck showed me downtown Amberg which was awe inspiring. It consisted of 3 stores and a post office. We stopped in 1 of the stores, which was a bar, for a couple of drinks and then went to Dianes house.

When we got to Dianes Chuck told me to take Dianes bed (since she was in NYC at the time) while he slept on the couch. When I asked him why he explained the Dianes bed was so high that Fritz (his dog) could not get up on the bed. I then thanked him and got undressed and got into bed to get some sleep. Thus ended the first day.

In the next day that age old question does the Spearmint lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight will be answered. Also we will find out if bigdaddi ever finds Eldorado and the missing link. Meanwhile hang by your thumbs and write if you get work.
