Graduation party 1982.  I had already finished school at Christmas break '81, but had to wait until June to go through ceremonies with my class.  Note the National Honor Society gold braid.  I was pretty proud of that.

Rednecks!!     Christmas '81.
My "brother" Dan (right) & me with our best friend Freddie.  Each of us is displaying our favorite poison of that night.  I quit drinking completely a few years ago.  I liked to think I looked like Hank Williams Jr.
I liked to stand out in Dan's band.
I practiced briefly with them in '87, but alas was not nearly good enough to play on stage with them.  Could it be that I just didn't seem to fit in?
I've been playing drums as a hobby since I was about 11.
The band at that time:
Dan Miller   on lead vocal & harmony,  lead & rythem guitar,  acoustic guitar,  steel guitar,  banjo,  mandolin,  fiddle,  and keyboards.

Straycat Chuck   on percussion.
Richard Armbruster   on bass guitar,  and harmony vocals.
Scotty Mathews   on lead vocal & harmony,  and lead & rythem guitar.
DRUG  STORE  DAYS
For ten years, beginning in '81, I worked for a local drug store chain called Lane's Drugs.  I started as a stockboy and quickly became one of their youngest managers.  I also worked as a merchandiser, and on their remodeling crew.  Over the years I had worked in every one of their nearly 100 stores in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indianna, New York, and West Virginia.  The company was sold to a national chain in '89, and I left a couple years later.  I still miss it though.

(store burned down several years ago)
Going away party when I left my store to join the company's merchandising, remodeling and construction crew.
I would have been 20 in '83.
I worked on my company's remodeling crew doing all sorts of merchandising and construction jobs for two years in '84 & '85.  Then supervised crews to remodel all our stores to a new company format in '88.
Another attempt at an afro, this time with a goatee.
Yes, that's me shoving large wads of my store's money into every available pocket.  Only for the photograph though, I assure you.
Downtown, about '88.
My "brother" Dan & I grew up together as brothers.  His parents were mine and my parents were his.  This picture is of me and Carrie watching the band with Dan's real mom in '91.  She was my second mom.  She died last year.
Me with Michelle's baby son Ronny in '92.
Also, babycat on the desk (still around).
Me around '90 with momma cat, "Dusty" (still around), and "Nibbles" (died in '92).

Me with my 8 1/2 foot Boa Constrictor Soccrates.  He lived to age 33 and died in '95.

On vacation to see my mom in Tucson Arizona in '87.  These shots are at the San Xavier Del Bac Mission.
