| Every Child's secret dreams involve being the one who finds something of great value, something that will be all his or hers! Remember the old childhood games? |
| Treasure Hunt Game #1 Choose something you can easily hide. Find a hiding place and leave it there. On a notebook or paper, write down a starting point. Count how many steps it takes to go forward, turn right or left, how many steps in that direction, turn right or left, how many steps in that direction, etc. You can also insert "bend down and look under __ for more instructions", or "clap your hands 3 times and spin around once, then take 4 more steps". You can include north, south, east and west directions, or just tell them to turn right or left. Whoever finds the item wins the game. (Do they win a prize?) Play over and over. Or hide many items and make many hunt sheets to follow. The children can either read the sheet themselves, or you can stand nearby telling them the instructions. This works best for smaller children. Treasure Hunt Game #2 Hide items that the finder may keep. Candy, Easter eggs etc. You can make up sheets as in the above version, or leave slips of paper with clues, pointing the hunters on to the next clue. Treasure Hunt Game #3 Hand out sealed envelopes to each team of children with instructions of items they must find around the house and present to you. The first team back with all of the items wins the game and prize. It's fun to make up handmade ribbons or medals or give some sort of trophy that your child can keep displayed in their room. |
