Sometimes we think about folks we like,
The times we've spent together,
The cold or warm or rainy days
Or any kind of weather.
We take for granted our friends we love
Who are with us every day,
We never give it one small thought,
How long they're here to stay.
So friends, your dear ones that you love,
In sickness, and in health
No matter what the case may be
In poverty or in wealth.
Remember what they mean to you,
And dear friends if your love is true,
Try helping them in every way
And every thing you do.
Friends think about the folks you love,
But sometimes fail to show it.
The days are going swiftly by
They're gone before you know it.
And so today, I thought I'd take
A moment of my time,
To remember every one of you
That's been a friend of mine.
It may be that tomorrow
Our work on earth be done,
It may be that tomorrow
At the setting of the sun.
That we may enter into rest
Such as no night can give.
So I will try to do my best
For the time God lets me live.
So from sickness, pain or sorrow
When we all shall pass away.
And with the love God's given me
I'll try to improve my ways.
But in my last days here on earth
Till God calls me home to rest.
I'll be so glad if I can say,
"I tried to do my best."
