Queretero
Queretero is one of our favorite cities. It's a city of elegant plazas amd beautiful architecture. Only two hours from Guanajuato, this large city of half a million people has a beautiful colonial center. The Spanish mansion in the picture above forms one side of La Plaza de la Independencia and was the home of La Corregidora, wife of the Corregidor (magistrate appointed by the King) who warned the insurgents that the Spanish officials had learned of the plans for the insurection that started the Mexican War of independence in 1810.
