The Village of Bernal, in the State of Queretero which is just east of the state of Guanajuato, has a massive extrusion known as La Roca de Bernal. There is a path from the village to La Roca that opens up about one fourth of the way to the top into a group of refreshment stands and mineral shops. Climbing a second stretch, more challenging than the first, one comes to a church and parish house. One of the guidebooks stated that there is a very old priest, too old to say mass, who stays there. Given the grade, one suspects that the good Father will never make it down on his own. Some people climb farther up but they say that the final ascent requires mountain climbing gear.
