Our architect refered to them as detales. These are the details that give the house its Mexican character. Boveda ceilings, those rounded domed ceilings that are a feature of Guanajuato houses; stonework inside the house; hand carved doors; ornate iron grills; clay tile floors made in San Felipe, are a few of the Mexican detales in this house. When we built our house we wanted a very Mexican house and I think our architect achieved that for us.

The house also has some details that are probably not all that Mexican but make life a bit easier. These include an automatic electric garage door opener and another automatic opener for the front gate, a flowjet pump that pumps purified bottled water to a faucet on the sink and also to the refrigerator for chilled water and ice cubes, are two more features. Window and door screens throughout the house to keep occasional insects from visiting our place. We have a locking system for the sliding glass doors that secures the door but also permits air to come in while keeping any possible intruders from entering. There is also a video phone that lets us see who is at the door and thus eliminate the need to go to the front entryway to the house. There is a button that opens the door for persons whom you want to enter the property.
