TROY - Ira E. Luke, 83, of Grant Avenue died Tuesday at St. Mary’s Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Luke lived in Troy all his life and retired in 1969 from the Troy School District. He previously worked for the Republic Steel in Troy and at the Watervliet Arsenal during World War II. Mr. Luke was a communicant of the St. Michaels’s Roman Catholic Church in Troy and a member of the Wynantskill Senior Citizens and its bowling league. He was the widower of Louetta Clickner Luke. Survivors include two sons, Charles E. Luke and James J. Luke Sr., both of Troy; a sister, Anna Seney, of Rensselaer, and three grandchildren. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the William Leahy Funeral Home 336 Third St., and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, Williams Road. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
