Frederick W. Luke

December 18, 1839 - May 24, 1922





Frederick Luke one of the oldest residences of this section died last night at the residence of his son, Ira Luke, 42 Grant Avenue, after an extended illness. Mr. Luke was born in New Salem, but came to this city when a boy and made his home here for thirty years. He was employed for many years as a puncher in the horseshoe department of The Burden Iron Company. Later he moved to Saratoga Springs, where he engaged in farming, and returned to this section two years ago. He attended Woodside Presbyterian Church. The survivors are five sons, Charles, Ira, Fred Jr., James and Edward Luke; two daughters, Mrs. Ira Lindsley and Mrs. Anne B. Hayes both of St. Petersburgh, Florida.; Three sisters Mrs. Margaret Ward, Mrs. Sarah Gallup and Mrs. Walter Hearst, and one brother Addison Luke. The funeral will be held from the residence Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. William Marden will officiate, Internment will be at New Salem.
