****And the Commercials Win Big!****
See some of the top Super Bowl XL ads by clicking here for AOL.com, Google.com or MSNBC.com. My all-time favorite commercial is still from a company that my Mom used to work for, EDS. It featured 'cat herders.' Remember that one? See it again here.

****01/03/06****Happy New Year!
Had a GREAT time ringing in the New Year at the DoubleTree Hotel at Warren Place with family and friends. My daughter invited some of her friends and I think they had the most fun, what with getting to swim, staying up VERY late and getting to be as LOUD as they wanted at the stroke of midnight!! Oh, and let's not forget about those delicious chocolate chip cookies! May God bless you in this new year!

****12/25/2005****Dreaming of a white Christmas
The new kitty is here and we already love him to pieces! Abby says Alexander, IV started healing her heart the minute she saw him! Merry Christmas and "may all your Christmases be white."

****12/16/2005****Need that gift wrapped?
Peggy Miller, a loyal KBEZ listener and Clay Aiken fan, told me about this great opportunity to get your presents wrapped AND help a great cause! Here's the scoop:

Clay Aiken fans will be wrapping Christmas presents for donations to Clay's foundation, The Bubel/Aiken Foundation. This is a national event called Wrapping for Inclusion. The Bubel/Aiken Foundation provides services and financial assistance to promote the full integration of children with disabilities in to the life environment of those without. Monies raised will help fund projects of The Bubel/Aiken Foundation including its YMCA initiative that will bring programs of inclusion to YMCAs nationwide. We will build our legacy by breaking down the barriers that prevent families from obtaining the services and financial assistance they need and serving as a watch dog to make sure the public continues to keep those barriers down. To learn more about the Bubel/Aiken Foundation visit www.bubelaikenfoundation.org.

Thanks to Peggy Miller & Linda Skillern,Tulsa Coordinators

****12/16/2005****Blue Christmas
Our Alex kitty passed away on Dec. 6th. He'd been battling kidney failure for about 3 months. 16 1/2 years is a pretty good long life for a cat. We're thankful for all the days he was with us. My daughter thinks the best way to get over our loss is to adopt a new kitten. Here's the new Alex we'll pick up this weekend. Thanks for all your thoughts & prayers.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

****12/05/05****Merry Christmas!!
The holidays are comin' at us so fast 'n furious it's hard to keep up! Because of our sick kitty that needs constant attention these days, there's no time to go Christmas shopping. I'm so glad I found the Pendleton store in Utica Square!! I can take care of everyone on my gift list in that one store!!! I'll get gorgeous one-of-a-kind gifts for the Great Grands to the youngest neice. And you've got a chance to win a $50 Gift Certificate to the Pendleton store when you listen to KBEZ at work!! Just our way of saying 'Thanks for listening and Happy Holidays!'

****11/23/2005****Happy Thanksgiving!!
We're thankful for Dr. Grogan, our vet. His treatment has brought our Alex kitty from the brink of death! He's doing so much better. Thank you for all your prayers.
Now, who's going to get up bright and early Friday morning for the Black Friday sales?!? You KNOW I'll be there!! Here's a link to save $5 at Toys R Us. Hey, every little bit counts! Want to check out Black Friday ads today?!? Click here and find your favorite stores. Happy Shopping!!

****11/08/2005**** A Sad Day at the Lewis House
First, I want to say thanks to everyone that attended ChefFest 2005. It was a HUGE success thanks to all the talented Chef's. I didn't eat again for at least 24 hours!! There were so many delicious dishes I got to sample that I can't even remember them all! I do recall Fire Roasted Shrimp, Chocolate-Rasberry Truffle Torte, Tomato/Pasta Salad & so much more! Yum, yum!

On to our sad news...my 16 1/2 year old Alex kitty is in kidney failure. He's at the vet right now on an I.V. therapy that we pray will give him a few more days, if not months, if that's not too much to ask. We'd appreciate your prayers. Thanks!

****10/26/2005****It's almost BOO time! Look out for Darth Abby...
Hey, we got "Ghosted" last night! Has this happened to you? It's a fun neighborly way of celebrating Halloween. Someone leaves a Ghost note with the rules and a festive treat at your door, rings the doorbell and disappears! Then, you enjoy the treats and have to do the same to 2 of your neighbors in the next 24 hours. Abby gobbled up the Reese's and Crunch bars in like five seconds!! She is SO in the Halloween mood. She's been counting the days for the past month! In fact, over the Fall Break, she wore her costume to the babysitter's. Abby's going to be the cutest little Darth Vader. She's been practicing her line, "You don't know the power of the dark side," about a thousand times through her Darth Voice Changer helmet. (I may never watch Star Wars again!) Happy Halloween, oh, and "May the Force be with you."

****10/12/2005****Trick-Or-Treat!
How are you? Did you enjoy the Tulsa State Fair? My daughter LOVED it this year! She went through the "Hands On The Farm" like 3 times in one day. It was a great display that was so much fun AND educational! Kids got to learn exactly what it takes for America's farmers to put food on our tables. Then, of course, there were the RIDES! We got her a Mega Ride Pass and she put it to VERY good use. And my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the FOOD!! Yum, yum, yum!!!

Speaking of yummy treats, a loyal KBEZ listener and Clay Aiken fan wrote to me about Trick-Or-Treating for UNICEF. Clay is the ambassador for this year's event. So, Peggy Miller has started an Oklahoma team to help raise funds for Hurricane Relief. Would you like to help? Click here for all the details!

****09/22/05****She Looks Pretty Good for a "Corpse Bride"
My daughter has been counting the days til this movie opens...and it's finally here this weekend!!! I'll let you know if it stands up to her expectations.
Other movies we're waiting to see:
The Chronicles Of Narnia, Dec. 9th
Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire, Nov. 18th
Wallace & Gromit, Oct. 7th
Chicken Little, Nov. 4th

****09/12/05****THANK YOU, TULSA!!!!
KBEZ's Promotions Director, Sammy Carillo, said it best, so in his words here are the results of YOUR efforts from Radio Relief Day:

"What a day! In 12 hours at LaFortune park the INCREDIBLE people of our community helped us raise $131,800 for the victims and people affected by Hurricane Katrina. $131,800...let that soak in for a second. Such an incredible day of giving, compassion and love for our fellow brothers and sisters. Thank you so very much for your time, money and effort in making this a day I will never forget. To see the faces of children emptying out their piggy banks, giving their allowances and walking up with their offering of love with the biggest smile on their face will stay with me forever. For people to take of their time, money and gasoline to drive to our location says a lot about our city. Every single penny that was given meant that one person was helped and I realize that we may never know whose lives or how many lives we helped today but I'm so very glad that we did our part.

Thank you for making it a day to remember!
God bless you,
Sammy :)"

****09/08/05****Help Hurricane Katrina Victims While On The Go!
Hey Guys, I know we all want to help our suffering neighbors in some way. And I know there seems to be a thousand different organizations asking for donations. It can be pretty confusing. Well, here's an easy way that you can help thousands of folks displaced by the hurricane through an organization that we KNOW will put your donation to immediate use.

Tomorrow ALL the radio stations in Tulsa have joined together for a
Radio Relief Day. We'll be accepting donations in person from 6am to 6pm at the LaFortune Ballpark parking lot at 61st & Yale. You can drop off your cash or check donation to the American Red Cross on your way to work, with the kids on the way to school, on your lunch hour, while you're running errands, on your way home or with the whole family after work and school. Don't pass up this opportunity to help our suffering fellow Americans. We'll see you there tomorrow, Friday Sept. 9th, from 6am to 6pm. God Bless you and God Bless America!

Here's a great website providing job opportunites for Hurricane Katrina victims: Jobs4Katrina.com

****08/16/05****Angels Among Us?
What happened to Summer? Today is already the first day of school for my shy, 10 year old daughter. She seemed a lot more nervous this year because she only knows 4 of the 23 kids in her new class. So last night we said a prayer for her first day. Within a few minutes of arriving at school, she found out the one girl she knew best will be moving to Korea next month! Abby's heart sunk. Just then the teacher asked her to escort a new student to the office. The girls let me walk with them on my way out. I thought I'd be polite and ask the new girl some casual questions. She was very out-going and talkative. She told us her name, where she went to school last year & why they had moved to this new school district. Then she did the sweetest thing I could have ever asked for. This little angel said, "Abby, could we be friends?" I almost cried! Thank the Lord for little miracles.

Peter Jennings' portrait is displayed Monday on a giant screen outside ABC's studios in New York. (AP)
****08/08/05****
So sad to hear of the passing of ABC "World News Tonight" anchorman, Peter Jennings. The AP says he died Sunday night of lung cancer at the age of 67. He delivered the news in his natural, assuring delivery over five different decades. Jennings is survived by his wife, Kayce Freed, and his two children, Elizabeth, 25, and Christopher, 23. Our prayers are with his family.

Although we never met him in person, it still feels like we've lost a close friend. I remember 15 years ago when my husband used to commute to Claremore each day. He added a tiny black & white TV to his truck just so he could catch Peter Jennings' evening newscasts.

And how about that marathon Millennium broadcast? They say Peter Jennings was on the air for 25 hours straight!! And he looked like he was having a blast the entire time. Not to mention every Presidential election, including the 2000 one that went on for weeks! We stayed up way into the wee hours on election night, just to find Peter Jennings still at the helm at 8 o'clock in the morning! The AP reports that the week of the 9-11 attacks, Jennings logged more than 60 hours on the air.

Maybe that's what we liked about him most, he seemed like he was enjoying every moment of sharing history with America. Heck, I even loved his Canadian accent. I would just wait for him to say "a-boat" instead of "about!" It never bothered me that he was from Canada. Still, good for Mr. Jennings for becoming an American citizen in 2003.

A sincere farewell to a friend we never knew. Peter Jennings, 1938-2005. You will not be forgotten.

****07/11/05****
Flip thru the first few pages of "Everything I Ate: A Year In The Life Of My Mouth." Very interesting stuff! Makes me think we all need to take more time to not only enjoy each meal, but also the company we keep while eating those meals. Click here for a preview.

****06/29/05****The new "Herbie: Fully Loaded" movie is a great little summer escape! It's got a nice little Father/Daughter story, some NASCAR racing, a very cute car and, oh yeah, Lindsay Lohan! My 10 year old daughter LOVED this movie so much, that we've already seen it TWICE! No matter what age you are, NASCAR fan or not, you'll enjoy this new chapter in Herbie's life.

****06/22/05****Congratulations to Martina McBride and her husband, John, on the new addition to their family! Ava Rose Kathleen McBride was born at 2:25 p.m. Monday, June 20th, weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces. That brings the McBrides total to three girls! I'm sure Martina and John's two other daughters, Delaney, 10, and Emma, 7, are going to make great big sisters! Hear Martina McBride on KBEZ with "This One's For The Girls."

A Fish Magnet, Nascar, Golf and Batman
****06/20/05****Happy Father's Day! Hope you got to spend time with your Dad this weekend. My folks live in Arizona, so I settled for a phone call & a present sent via mail. Abby made her Dad feel special by giving him a hand-made Fish Magnet and a Golfing Teddy Bear. Then, we did whatever David wanted to do on Sunday, that meant sleeping on the couches while the TV blared Racing and then Golf. I think we all enjoyed a day of rest for a change. Later we took him to IHOP for dinner and ended the day with a trip to the movies for "Batman Begins," which he LOVED. Hope your main-man had a great day as well.

****05/26/05****Congratulations to Carrie Underwood!!! There were screams and shouts of joy all over Oklahoma last night as Carrie was announced as the New American Idol! And congrats go to Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood who got engaged last night in Bakersfield, Ca. before a shocked audience attending a Bronze Statue unveiling concert.

****05/16/05****The Summer movie season has begun! KBEZ was proud to host a sneak peak at "Monster-In-Law", starring Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda. It was a hoot! If you're looking for laughs, you'll want to check it out. But one word of caution, for a PG-13 film, I found the number of curse words rather high.
My family took in "Kicking And Screaming" this weekend. I highly recommend this movie for anyone involved in sports, from the soccer Moms & Dads to the youngest kicker. Not only is this movie funny, but it also has some world-class soccer moves performed by kids! And, it's finally here, "Star Wars: Episode III" opens this week! I've heard critics say that they don't recommend this installment for kids. If you get in to see it the first weekend, let me know what you think! We can't decide if we should take our 9 y.o. to see it. (She LOVED Episode I.) Then, hang on for "Madagascar", "Sisterhood of Traveling Pants", "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", "Fantastic 4", "Chicken Little", "War Of The Worlds", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Herbie: Fully Loaded", and many more! So, grap a bag of popcorn, sit back and prepare to be blown away! But don't forget to leave room for Fall Blockbusters like "Nightmare Before Christmas' Corpse Bride", Pixar's "Cars", "Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire", "Zathura", and "The Chronicles Of Narnia."

****05/06/05****Happy Mother's Day! Here's one of my favorite quotes that's perfect for Moms:
"All I am I owe to my mother."
- George Washington, first U.S. president

Have a great weekend! And to my Mom, I love you! Thanks for all the hugs & kisses for all my skinned knees and boo-boos of the heart.

****04/25/05****Got a great letter from the President of our company, Tony Renda, Sr.: (I've added dashes to some curse words)

Check out the complete letter by click here.

****03/22/05****Happy Spring and Happy Easter to you and yours!

****03/11/05****A fellow Renda Broadcaster out of Jacksonville, Florida sent out this Life-Saving Tip:
Wednesday afternoon I heard a former highway patrol officer give a very simple tip. One that I think could save your life. The topic of the conversation was drunk and impaired drivers.
He said that without exception every head on crash on an interstate he had worked was in the left lane, most were at night, and in many cases the impaired driver did not have on headlights.
He went on to explain that the impaired driver thought he was in his right lane. In fact, he was in the fast lane going the wrong way. With no headlights it would have been impossible to avoid a collision.
The simple bit of advice: Don't drive in the left lane if you can't see the taillights of the vehicle in front of you.

****03/04/05****Can you believe it's already MARCH?!! That means St. Patrick's Day, Easter and Taxes are just around the corner. Here are some Tax Tips from CNNMoney.com:

MOST OVERLOOKED DEDUCTIONS-These deductions add up if you're itemizing.
- Medical and dental expenses
- Personal property tax
- Charitable donations
- Education expenses
- Disaster or theft
- Job search expenses

- Tax Breaks for Job Seekers

Taxpayers who fit into special categories might be able to claim deductions which are popularly referred to as above-the-line deductions because you subtract them on page one of your 1040, just above the page's last line. These breaks could help you chip away at your taxable income.

****01/21/05****Keeping up with your New Year's resolution? I'm still trying to un-clutter my life little by little. Just came across this great article from Robyn Bentley:
FENG SHUI DIVA'S 3 EASY TIPS FOR TACKLING CLUTTER

Clutter is a lifelong problem. That's because we're always bringing stuff home that can turn into clutter. So you have to work on your clutter your entire life to keep it under control. It's easier to tackle clutter if you focus on one area at a time. Like your bedroom. Bedroom clutter is mostly clothing and you can declutter your clothing by dividing it into 3 categories.
Click here for all the details. Get FREE Feng Shui Tips For Your Home And Office at FengShuiDiva.com.

****01/10/05****How's your New Year going? How about those New Year's resolutions? I'm already flaking out on mine. I resolved to get my house more organized this year. I only chose that because the "Losing weight" resolution has been a source of failure in years past. I think the only resolution that worked for me was when I resolved to NOT make a resolution. Can you believe I even lost weight that year!! The Good Lord willing, that will happen again THIS year!

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the horrendous tragedy that happened in Indonesia. Everything else is just so trivial compared to what they're dealing with in the wake of the world's most powerful Tsunami. If you've been blessed and can give a donation to help those in need, the KBEZ EZ-Links has several websites where you can donate.

****01/03/05****Happy New Year and hope you had a very Merry Christmas in the company of loved ones. And a special thanks to the hundreds, if not thousands, who nominated friends for the Christmas Wish program. What a huge response this year! It couldn't have happened without the support of our sponsors IBC Bank and Good Neighbor Pharmacies. Thanks to all who made this year's Christmas Wish such a huge success.

Got this funny e-mail from a former co-worker, Meredith McGrath. It may be too late for this year's celebrating, but keep it in mind for next Christmas. Let me preface it by saying I'm sure no one actually condones the behaviour suggested in this letter, but it is funny to read:

*****11/02/04****Today's the BIG DAY---Super Tuesday! Finally! I was so happy to hear regular commercials again today. After months of political ads, I discovered I missed them, even the corny ones!! Be sure to get out & vote today. Did you know you have the right to take as much time as you need to vote? Find more voting info including your polling place address at www.mypollingplace.com.

*****08/16/04****Abby's back in school and it all went relatively smoothly. Now comes Cheerleading practice, shuttling back & forth to Chess Club, or whatever extra curricular activity, homework, Science projects, sleep-overs, etc. So the real fun has begun. Meanwhile, our family is still cleaning up from a water pipe break that slowly flooded Abby's bedroom and ruined her carpet, some furniture & and some treasured baby blankets. Did I say the "fun" has begun?

****08/1/04**** Have you had enough of Summer? Abby goes back to school tomorrow, and we're not ready for the Summer fun to end!!! We'll spend one final night at the movies tonight. (Luckily Princess Diaries 2 starts on a Wednesday night.) Then she'll hit the books tomorrow. And when I say "the books" I mean a huge stack of them. Her teacher showed us the intimadating stack of books that await the kids in their lockers. She'll be in my prayers tomorrow! Of course I'll have to get the camera out & snap "too many pictures" of Abby as she heads off to the first day of school. I still try to scapbook so there is no such thing as "too many pictures!" Good luck to all the kids as they go back to school and God Bless us moms who still find it hard to let them go.

****07/06/04**** Happy Independence Day! My family had a great time attending the free Tulsa Salutes Freedom at the River. The Mayor was in attendence and had some inspirational words to share before the Starlight Mini Band entertained us leading up to the fireworks! If you didn't get to go this year, be sure to make plans to be there next year! I can't wait to get my pictures processed so I can start scrapbooking!

****04/30/04**** Had a listener ask me about a rumor regarding gas prices this weekend. Turns out the story he was referring to had to do with MILK! Here it is from the AP:
(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The price of milk is going up, perhaps to between three- and four-dollars per gallon. Steve Lawrence with Oklahoma City-based Buy For Less says his stores will raise milk prices by 60 cents per gallon by tomorrow.

****04/12/04**** My daughter & I went to Eggstravaganza and she came away with about 25 eggs!!! There were even more people this year. They estimated the crowd at around 6500! You'll have to be sure to go next year! It was huge and Abby had a great time. There was a small petting zoo with some baby ducks & chicks that were brightly colored. Abby decided she just had to have a purple chick. Turns out the Farmers Co-op in B.A. sells them and now we have 2 baby chicks, Chick and Fil-A. They'll soon be going to Grandpa's farm!! Easter Sunday was beautiful. Our family usually gets together for Sunday services then Easter Brunch with Aunts & Uncles, in-laws & out-laws and Grands & Greats. This year however, it was just the 3 of us. We still had a great time celebrating this Holy holiday. Hope yours was wonderful too!

****04/02/04**** Happy Easter Week to you and your family! Make plans to join KBEZ for Eggstravaganza at Hunter Park beginning at 11am on Sat., April 3rd. My daughter has already told me that she wants to get tons of eggs! The event is free to attend, but you must pick up a ticket at any area Reasor's Customer Service counter. Be sure to take lots of water since the forecast is for sunny skies. Hope you and your family are able to get together for the Easter holiday and celebrate the true meaning of Easter, our Risen Saviour.

****01/07/04**** Happy New Year and Season's Greetings! We were fortunate to visit with lots of family and friends over the holidays. Hope you had wonderful celebrations as well. Be sure to check out our poll on the home page. Did you make a New Year's resolution?

****10/29/03**** Happy Halloween! Hope you were able to join KBEZ at the 13th Annual Boo HaHa on Brookside. Keith and I thoroughly enjoyed hosting the Pet and Child Costume Contests. There are some very creative and innovative folks here in Tulsa! After all of those wonderful costumes, the holiday itself is going to be somewhat of a let down. Hope you enjoy your holiday. I'm off to the store to pick up some more candy! (Got to replace the 2 bags we've already devoured!)

****A Tulsa State Fair Story**** As soon as we arrive home from the fair, Abby spills out of the truck with her many little winnings from the Midway. She happens to spy our neighbor across the street, wearing only a robe, trying to sneak his trash to the curb unnoticed. Next thing I hear, "Hey Dave! I just saw two baby pigs being born at the Fair!" "Really?" "Yeah! I got to see two babies come out of the mama pig's belly. Well, it wasn't really her belly....Mama, where was that?"

Don't forget, 92.9, KBEZ invites you to the TULSA STATE FAIR. We are proud to sponsor some great family educational entertainment! Stop by the Animal Birthing Center, check out Goat Mountain and be sure to feed the animals in the Petting Zoo. There are only a few more days left as the Tulsa State Fair ends Oct. 5th. Hope you have some great State Fair memories!
