So many Finns!
The traditional highlight of the Finnish Chart Polski year is the annual meeting that was organized this year in the Tuomarinkartano Sighthound Center at Helsinki April 26th. This was tenth meeting, just the first one was organized in spring 1999.
There were 24 people present, a lot of new Chart Polski fanciers among them. Also there were 17 dogs – quite exhaustive cross-section of the phenomenon 'Chart Polski', because there was present for example some offspring of the two dogs registered in KW stud book, a Hortaya Borzaya and a Chart Polski hybrid.
The weather was springly warm – summerlike – so people could spend nearly whole day outdoors, where also the dogs ran and played on the wide grass field.
First there was on the programme the coffee service. After coffee when all peoples were present, on the terrace of the sighthound center there started the "official" stage of meeting, where the general topics were subject of conversation.Two years ago in the Chart Polski meeting there was discussion about starting up a Chart Polski association in Finland. Now the people still supported the idea, so in near future we hope there will be possibilities to start up and maintain a breed club.
Then there was announced, that 16 Finnish Chart Polskis have now given the DNA samples for the Finnish canine genetic research, but still more dogs are wanted.
The behavior test (a kind of mental test) suitable for sighthounds has been created in Finland. This new test type is developed in co-operation with the Finnish Sighthound Club and also two Chart Polski individuals are tested in experimental sense. The sighthound behavior test project goes on.
There was discussion also about the usefulness of a Finnish stud dog list and about the status of the long haired Chart Polski.
The names of the challenge cup winners were published: Betjanova Chart Felicitas (the Show Chart Polski of the year 2007) and Bassebastioni Ataman (the Lure Coursing Chart Polski of the year 2007).
Also there was chosen the challenge cup ranking list keepers for the next year and the committee for organizing the next Chart Polski meeting.There was excellently prepared lunch on the programme after the official stage. The table was full of delicacies.
The dogs enjoyed running and playing whole day outdoors and after the meeting they were very tired. Chart Polski people exchanged ideas with each other and made plans for the summer season. The feeling was warm and nice.
