Samuel Young, b. Cumberland Co., PA in 1762.
In 1778 he was in Northumberland Co., PA.
He was in Montgomery Co., VA in 1780.
He fought at King's Mountain with the VA Militia.jray.html
He was in Rowan and Rutherford Co's, NC about 1782.
His oldest daughter was born in NC in 1782.
He moved to Spartanburg Co., SC and then to Franklin Co., GA.
He was in Sumner Co., TN by 1798 and was still there in 1802.
He moved to Logan Co., KY, to Indiana Territory (now extreme southern IL) and was in New Madrid, MO for the big quake in 1811.
He then settled in what is now Marion Co., IL in 1812 and brought his family here in 1813. He was the "first settler in Marion Co., IL."
He died in Marion Co., IL in 1846.
