If only she could see herself the way that others do- Summissa might be able to look past the trembling inside of her. The friendly dragoness, with an easy smile is the image of home for the island dragons and the resident mother- someone who is always there to listen and care. It isn't Summissa's bravery which matters to her friends, though it matters so much to her, it is her heart. As beautiful in as she is out, Summissa's gentle spirit appeals to just about everyone and seems to shine through even the darkest situations. There is never a night too dark for a calming word from Summissa, never a day too stark and hard for a hug or smile.

She may be afraid to look herself in the mirror, but that is the only thing keeping this dragoness down. With her friends around her, there is nothing to great or horrible for Summissa to handle... if only she knew it.

The moment that Summissa met Cortaso, she thought that she could sense something dangerous about him. He was a wild sort of man, with a sort of shifty face, and though he spoke gentle words she could see nothing gentle about him. He was the perfect sponsor for her- the kind of creature that would lead her into adventure and perhaps even cure her of her fears. Summissa had hoped that Cortaso and his untamed Jhiirsai would make her into the kind of dragon that she would be proud to be... not a little frightened hatchling.

In a manner of speaking, Cortaso did do for Summissa what she had hoped... though not in the way that she had imagined. As he had done with Hkarag a few weeks before, Cortaso took Summissa through his portal spell and all of a sudden the young dragoness found herself completely alone in a strange forest. Summissa managed to get herself up a tree before any predator could find her, but she was too shocked by the sudden loneliness to do much else. When the sun rose again on Summissa, she found herself with enough strength and state of mind to climb down from the tree and search out some water.

Before she ever made it to a safe watering place, Summissa was attacked by one of the forest's larger hunters. So surprised and afraid, the dragoness would have been killed and eaten had Hkarag not appeared at that moment and saved her. At first, the strange Hkarag had only frightened Summissa, but when she came to fully grasp what he had done for her, she quickly warmed up to him. They were an unlikely pair, one dragon and the other demon, but as partners and friends in a strange and dangerous world they were the best things for eachother.

Summissa learned to look to Hkarag for direction in all things wild, and with his help she soon learned how to gain her own footing in that untamed world. When other dragons began to appear after her, Summissa found reason to further dampen her tendency towards fear and with Hkarag quietly helping her, Summissa began to take on a motherly role among the dragons, saving and nurturing them. The mystery of their arrivals was the last thing on Summissa's mind.
