Silent and stillness enveloped Kirrirrs, her massive wings almost motionless as she sailed through the darkness. Thin trails of electricity ran across the sheets of tissue, stretched out into the star dusted vacuum of the universe. Most of her body, otherwise, was quite frozen, or asleep as she would have rather. Quite a surprising mannerism, for crossing the universe, Kirrirrs traveling had been, though it was something as natural to her as breathing.
The empty cold of space was to her more choice than the lush living of any world, and she had seen many. Only when her wings could catch a solar gust, only when her energy bulbs were glowing warmly, and only when she was wrapped in the symphony of the universe was Kirrirrs really at home. It had always been her home, the home of her people, since before a time which had been recorded. There were not many beings who could boast the same, not many who could say that they were so free as Kirrirrs kind.
But she had been traveling for a long time, an expanse of being and not existing that had lasted too long, and now, it was time for Kirrirrs to awake once more. Perhaps it was the heat which thawed out her carapace and muscles, or the powerful light source which had her energy reserves refilling, humming with strength. To the dragon however, neither of these were completely true. No, it was not the living tingle in her skin and wings which called her forth from her rest, but a song...
It throbbed and pulsed in her, hurrying her heart beat, making her wings shimmer with excitement. It was the voice of the universe, music of life, which pulled her from the darkness. It called to her, whispered words to her listening ears, guided her. And Kirrirrs came to that voice, the father of all things, her wings churning gracefully as she twisted through the bright, welcoming embrace of her return. She danced in the light of the mother star, strength and vitality flooding through her veins. It was a beautiful time, a beautiful system, though alien to her, and Kirrirrs could not help but herald the new place with her voice, too pleased with the encouraging song of space to stop herself.
From nothingness came the song,
From the song came the universe,
From the universe came the fire of life,
And from the fires of life come the Tecii.
Let our voices remember the beginning,
Let our ears hear the song,
Let our souls feel the calling.
From the darkness to the life,
From the nothing to the light,
The song calls all,
Leads all.
Kirrirrs silenced herself, cutting off in the middle of her song, listening intently to the humming symphony of the universe, hearing something, perhaps, calling her name. She twisted towards the notes, her wings glowing the more curiously as her eyes caught something glimmering in the distance. Something small, smaller than the little bubbles of life which she had often explored. This was something new. Something... the vibrations and rhythm, they were shifting her towards the little silver thing.
Kirrirrs followed the song, not quite understanding, but knowing that is was right, excitement and joy making her hurry her flight.
Star City...
The song whispered to her. Star City. Yes. Kirrirrs would go to Star City, would find the voice which beckoned her so.
NOTE: Just to let everybody know... I AM aware of the fact that sound cannot travel through space... but check this out!
