Exercise One: Invoking and Banishing Pentagrams
Using the athame and standing at each of the Watchtower directions - East, South, West, and North - practice drawing invoking and banishing pentagrams in the air.

Exercise Two: Inviting
Stand in a doorway while gripping the athame handle in both hands. Point the blade away from you and say:
I invite you in-please come and play
You may go when you wish-but are welcome to stay
Take a step back and move the blade in a vertical motion until it rests point-up on your right shoulder. Close your eyes, clear your mind, and see who comes in.
Repeat this exercise several times daily for one week, and record your progress.
Exercise Three: Preventing and Dismissing
Holding the athame handle firmly in both hands, stand in a doorway with the point down. Quickly move the blade up until your arms are stretched out in front of you and the blade point faces the doorway. Say fiercely:
You are not welcome-you must leave now. Go!
You must retreat, for I deem it so
Repeat this exercise several times daily for one week, and record your progress.
(Weeks Four and Five)
Exercise Four: Attraction Magic
Think of one positive quality that you'd like to develop in your set of personal characteristics. Name a paper clip for the attribute, then pass the athame over the clip so that it adheres to the blade. While visualizing yourself in possession of that characteristic, say:
Attract this quality to me
As I will so mote it be
Repeat the visualization and chant daily and record your progress. When the attribute is yours, put the paper clip on your key ring and carry it with you.
Exercise Five: Expulsion Magic
Think of one bad habit that you'd like to break. Name a paper clip for the habit and hold it in your dominant hand. Pass the athame over the clip so that it adheres to the blade while visualizing the habit being removed. Say:
