:-Can't Remember Anything-:
By DarkAngelGirl
Fred walked into the room. Wesley was at his desk filing some papers. Fred, can you put those books on the shelf for me?" he asked " Sure" she replied. She was glad to help him. She got the tall ladder and climbed up to the top shelf. She tried but the shelf was too high. Then she lost her balance. The ladder started teetering and then she fell backwards.

"Fred!" he yelled. She crashed to the ground. Wesley leapt out of his chair. He lifted her up. The books she had been carrying were scattered everywhere. She was unconscious. Worried, Wesley took her up to a bedroom.

He was very upset and felt really bad because she had fallen trying to help him. He stayed with her until she woke up two hours later.

" How do you feel?" he asked. She looked around curiously. Then she came to her senses.

" Who are you?"she asked frantically. She was starting to panic " Where is this place?!?"

He looked at her oddly " Fred?" he asked gently " Who?"she asked "Is that my name? I don't remember... anything, what happened to me?" Then Wesley got what was going on " Fred..." he said " It seems that you have a minor case of amnesia. It's all right, apparently you had a bad fall." He tried to sound calm and sure but he was worried

She started panicking " But, I don't remember you, or this place, or anything." He assured her

" Fred, It's OK, I know this is very scary for you but you must trust me. I am your friend, and I as well as your other friends will help." She grabbed his arm. She didn't remember this man at all but she felt safe with him.

"So... that's the situation." Wesley explained to Angel, Cordelia, and Gunn. " She can't remember anything?" Gunn asked. " Nothing at all" he replied. " Wes, can't someone help her be reminded a little." Cordelia asked.

"Yes...." he said reluctantly " but we couldn't remind her of everything. She doesn't even remember us, we really can't go tell her she was in another dimension for five years." Angel nodded " Yeah... Wesley is right." Wesley nodded " We need to let her know were her friends most of all."

Fred was still scared but she'd calmed down reasonably. " So... how did I meet you?" she asked meekly " I.... uh... " Wesley couldn't think of an answer. He knew Fred wasn't ready for that much. He quickly changed the subject " We are all here for you, and we are going to help you remember but It will happen slowly..." She nodded " I'm trying so hard." she said.

" I know. Do you remember anything at all? About yourself, or your friends?" She nodded somewhat reluctantly " Only little things. I'll sometimes remember small things, I know the words for things but not how I learned them. It's like I'm not myself, I'm an outsider looking in on myself, my life." He nodded knowing that she would soon remember. Everything.

They all agreed that hey wished Fred would never remember Pylea. Or any of the horrifying things she had experienced. " I feel bad." Wesley said softly. Nobody was really listening. They were all wrapped up in thoughts. He continued anyway " She is struggling to remember when there's just so many things she never would want to." They all nodded in agreement.

They were all sitting there feeling bad when Fred walked in. " Hi..." she said. " Hey..." said Angel with a forced smiled " Fred, how are you doing?" She smiled " OK. I just wish I could remember though." " And you will! "Wesley said trying to end the tension. She sat down staying close to Wesley.

Fred couldn't remember anything about these people that called themselves her friends but she felt that she must have been close to Wesley because he was the only thing that made her feel safe when she was so unsure. She wondered how she'd felt about him before. " Oh if only I could find myself!" she yelled in frustration.

The next day they were trying their hardest to leave things normal when a green demon burst into the room! They were all shocked. Fred turned pale. She screamed. Wesley ran to her. She kept screaming. " Fred..." he said.

He pulled her into a closet. " What... what is that?" she whispered. He decided he'd have to remain honest " Fred, it's some form of demon. I..." She was freaking out. " Why did it attack? Does this normally happen to us?" He looked at the dark floor. The closet was small and dark. He was honest " Yes, Fred it does happen to us a lot. 'Quite' a lot" She looked at him, even in the dark he could see the shocked look on her face " Why?" she asked. " It's our job. It's what we do..." She sank down on the floor of the closet. " Wow!" she said softly. He sat next to her. She held onto him tightly. " I'm so sorry" he whispered " I didn't want you to have tom live this life."

"No she replied " I know a little about myself and I know I chose this.", She looked up at him " Now that I know a little of the truth I want to know it all." So he told her. He couldn't lie to her. She was a little shocked but she believed it all.

" Now I want to know about you" She knew that she was attracted to him and she wanted to remember him. " What do you mean Fred?" he asked. " I.. Uh ... I kinda remember that I liked you a lot." she stated plainly. He looked at her not quite believing what she was telling him. She could tell he didn't believe it, but the one thing she remembered now was that she had been starting to fall in love with him just before her accident.

She kissed him. " I was in love with you!" she said excitedly. " Before the accident, I was wishing you'd pay more attention to me. They kissed again in that dark closet. Fred knew that Wesley was the key to her memory. He pulled away from her " Fred... I ..."

"Wesley." she said shyly " I remember you" She paused again " You helped me remember . The shock and delight shone on his face. She... somehow Fred had felt the same way he had. " You remember everything?" he asked " Yes. It's so good to remember."

Fred laughed with her little secret. She knew now that Wesley felt the same way. Losing my memory was so worth it, she thought. " I love you" she heard his voice in her ear. She truly thought life was good. She was so glad she got hers back.
