Zack and Kit strolled down the streets of New York at a lazy pace. They had just enjoyed the latest action flick at the movies. Not very romantic, yes, but still they had a great time. Kit could have orbed them back home in just seconds, but they decided to walk it since it was such a beautiful day and it shouldn't be wasted. A lazy, summer afternoon - perfect. "You think Zane will stay angry at me forever?" Zack asked. "I don't know," Kit said sheepishly, shrugging her shoulders. "I mean, you did seriously piss him off. So on the scale of one to ten, ten being never-ever-gonna-forgive-you, I'd say he's at seven..." she paused. "Or maybe eight." Zack sighed. "Well, I didn't mean to chide him like that. But he's gotta learn responsibility. Look at me - powers perfected, life back to normal." He grinned. "Almost perfected," Kit pointed out. "Your powers are still a little jumbled up, remember?" "Hey hey," Zack said, looking hurt, turning on his innocent-puppy-look. "Can't you give me a little more credit than that?" Kit just smiled and looked away. Suddenly, a commotion up the street brought them to their attention. People seemed to be running wildly in all directions. For a moment, neither Zack nor Kit could see what was happening. A Mustang came into view. It swerved wildly from one side of the street to the other as if controlled by a madman. Behind the wheel, a man kept looking at the floor and turning the wheel to avoid the bystanders. Zack reacted instinctively. The car was on a downhill grade and was picking up speed. It was only a matter of time before it struck one or more pedestrians who couldn't get out of its way. Zack raised his hands and called on his freezing power to stop the car. Instead of freezing, the car erupted, exploding in a fireball. It careened into a nearby building, narrowly missing several bystanders, who scurried to get out of its' way. As the car came to a halt, it started to burn out of control. "Oh my God," was all that Zack could say. Kit stood rooted to the spot. She just looked at Zack, then at the burning car, knowing full-well that the driver had died instantly when the car had exploded.
