CHARMED BOOKS

LUCK BE A LADY by Scott Ciencin

A desperate gamble
An ancient curse
Will it be good or evil
That triumphs first?

Synopsis: Phoebe Halliwell may be ready to turn over a new leaf as a single gal, but her newly redemonized ex-husband, Cole, isn't ready to let her go. Aware of a supernatural plot against the Charmed Ones, Cole keeps watch over Phoebe, and intercedes at the moment of battle, only to accidentally create a rip in time. Cole disappears to WWII-era Hollywood - and bring the sisters with him!

While the Charmed Ones are no strangers to extreme circumstances, what they didn't anticipate was a demonic stronghold shaking down local businesses. To infiltrate the evil underground, Paige poses as a young starlet, working an entirely different kind of magic before the camera. Meanwhile, Piper is tempted to seek out Leo - in this world, he's still human - and Phoebe is at her wits' end contending with Cole. But a demon henchman is working black magic mojo on Paige, and if the sisters don't focus, before long they'll find themselves completely out of luck!

My Review:
Finally! Cole is demonic again... but not dead (sigh). Another blah novel that managed to turn a potentially interesting plot boring. A couple of spelling errors can be spotted and the bad guy have the ability to manipulate luck, which reminded me of the episode "Lucky Charmed". Not bad an attempt for someone who has never written a Charmed novel before, but it could have been better... and less dull. Seeing the sisters constantly engaging themselves in the same old physical combat in so many books in a row can get really boring. Where's the good old magic from the good old days? When the sisters time-traveled back to the forties, the description and feel seemed pretty realistic... for a while. There wasn't a strong and constant ambiance that can be found in the books "Whispers From The Past" and "Voodoo Moon". Two thumbs up for the simple yet quaint and charming book cover, though :)
