BY the time you are reading this.Gundam wing has completed its highly successful TV broadcasts across North America.Whether you are a Sci-Fi anime fan or not the name ''Gundam'' has made a great impression to the public like all other classic japanese animations being shown in the Continent.Gundam however means more than just a casual japanese animation phenomenon which come and gone like other shows in the past' and GundamWing is only a small part of a mega successful animations series broadcatsed in japan and abroad for over the past twenty years and counting.Here is a brief introduction about Gundam Wing and the history of Gundam saga for you to get to know better with your favorite Gundam shows.

The origin of Gundam saga dated back more than 20 years ago.it began with the frist Mobile Suit Gundam (later known as Gundam0079)TVanimation series aired on japanese TV in1979.this 42 episode series was written and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino' and its story was set in a realistic future era known as the Universal Century(UC)when humankind had successfully transferred excessive population into space by means of space colonization in which the new migrants are living in gigantic cylindrical satellites called Space Colony' surrounding the earth and lunar orbits.Gundam(0079)depicts the struggles between the independent-minded space colonists and there dominating Earth rulers which led to a devastating Earth-space confict as well as a telling account of a group of youngsters who experienced this horrific war.Tomino's creation eventually become a hugh hit in japan three years later to the extent that the original TV series was retooled into a six-hour movie trilogy screeened across japan cinemas between 1981 to 1982 accompanied by a long line of plastic model series and related merchandises.Fans'skyrocketing demand for more UCera Gundam stories led to ZGundam in 1985 the Tomino-written sequel to Gundam(0079) which totally captured the hearts and minds of Gundam converts and paved the way for a long series of UC Gundam animations for the next 9 years (Gundam ZZ TV series' Char's Counterattack motion picture:Gundam 0080 and 0083 OVAs GUndam F91 motion picture and V Gundam TV series and continues to this date(The 08th MS Team OVA and the on going G-Saviour motion picture.

The year 1994 saw Gundam saga entered new direction where the tradition of UC based Gundam shows was broken with the Mobile Fighter Ggundam with realistic miltary conflicts and earth space power struggle being replaced by hot-blooded martial art based super robot esque Gundam Fight" tournaments which took place in an era known as the Future Century(FC) which was totally unrelated to UC era altogether. to many surprises the shockingly unique G Gundam was hugely successful which sparked the wave of what is now known as the Alternate Universes" Gundam series(G Gundam, Gundam Wing, Gundam X and Turn-A Gundam)and here is where the history and success of Gundam Wing began.

As the second Alternate Universe"Gundam animation followed right after G Gundam,New Mobile Report Gundam Wing(known as Mobile Suit Gundam Wing in THE USA)was originally debuted on japanese TV in March 1995.This 49 episodes epic Sci-FI animation series was produced by Masashi lkeda which reverted the storytelling style back to more traditional UC line.The era is now After Colony (AC)195 and Gundam Wing tells the grim story of what the human civilization might face when the omnipresent humans greed, coupled with technological advances, plays a major role in the never ending struggle between Space-dwelling colonists and their suppressive Earth dominators. Unlike the thoroughly militaristic nature of previous UC Gundam shows, Gundam Wing successfully fused the horrific military conflicts with subtle bishonen (pretty boy) and doujinshi (unofficial/fan-created mangas) favors which are highy popular with predominantly female anime fans,plus just a right touch of super robot gundams.The result was a mega success in gundam animation history, and with Gundam Wing , the popularity of Gundam saga has now reached to previously-untapped female audiences,and the AC saga continued to blossom with its animated sequel, Endless Waltz OVA and motion picture, plus numerous multimedia side stories as episode Zero and G-Unit mangas.war and peace love and hate humanity and cruelty/these are just a few elements you will find in the word of Gundam.
