| Teachers: This integrated literature unit over the Newbery Honor Award book, Charlotte's Web, was designed for students in 2nd and 3rd grade. Ideally, 2nd graders with the help of their teacher may use the activities in this unit at the beginning of the year. Towards the end of the school year, many students in this grade level should be able to complete the activities with little or no hlep. Students in 3rd grade should be able to complete these activities at an independent level. Each student will need access to a computer, the Internet, email, and a printer. Because this unit was designed to utilize technology, students need to be familiar with the following skills: basic word processing, know how to access programs on the computer, and know how to use the Internet. However, because this was designed for 2nd and 3rd graders, some students may not have the skills to complete some of these activities. Nevertheless, PLEASE do not hesitate to teach them. The skills required are very basic. Who knows, with your help, some student might be turned on to computers and become the next Bill Gates! HAPPY READING! HAPPY COMPUTING! |
