14 Nosy questions:
                              Rhodri of Big Leaves

Glitter interview 26 February 1998

Glitter: Would you ever give up singing in Welsh in order to reach a wider audience?

Rhodri: No, cos its our first language! We speak it to each other as much as we speak English and write songs in both languages.

Glitter: Is there such a thing as a Welsh scene?

Rhodri: Theres definitely a Welsh scene, but whether its a good or bad thing is yet to be known. We would be doing it anyway, we always have done.

Glitter: Discuss the North/South Wales divide.

Rhodri: Im not aware of any divide, but maybe sports wise theres a little competitiveness.

Glitter: What are your influences?

Rhodri: Anything with a nice vibe that gets us going!

Glitter: Which was the first gig you ever went to?

Rhodri: My first ever gig was Lenny Kravitz and I was about 15.

Glitter: Which was the first record you really listened to?

Rhodri: My father had a record by Johnny Cash and I listened to that quite a bit.

Glitter: Who did you look up to as a child?

Rhodri: My father cos he was taller than me, hehe.

Glitter: Name three records that changed your life!

Rhodri: Lou Reed Transformer, The Beatles Abbey Road, Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream, but also stuff by Lee Perry, and the Velvet Underground.

Glitter: Who do you regard as cool?

Rhodri: Mohammed Ali, Bob Dylan and Michael Owen, the footballer.

Glitter: What do you dream about?

Rhodri: Money, Liverpool FC, girls, carsno, the other night I dreamt that Meilir was riding a bike in a postmans uniform spreading letters around Caernarfon!

Glitter: What makes you happy?

Rhodri: Being with friends and having a good time.

Glitter: Have you ever been involved in the making of a fanzine?

Rhodri: No, not really. We just like playing music.

Glitter: Any future plans?

Rhodri: To start recording the new LP and get it out as soon as possible. Weve got  all the songs written for it and have almost decided on a name.

Glitter. Do you eat British beef?

Rhodri: Yeah, Im stupid enough to eat it. Youve got to believe in the farmers!
