| Outside Radio City Music Hall in NYC on June 5th, 2005. Story to follow when I CALM DOWN. Copied this from my LIVEJOURNAL entry from June 5th, 2005. Okay, so, the "TONY AWARDS" were presented today in NYC at Radio City Music Hall. Guess who was waiting outside as people were coming in. Yeah. That's right. Me. So, I was REALLY REALLY hoping to see Sondheim, because his show "Pacific Overtures" was up for "Best Revival". Anyway, so, we're standing outside Radio City Music Hall watching everyone and suddenly, Mom goes, "Is that Jerry Herman?" and I was thinking that she was being a smart alec and trying to trick me, because, that's just something she would do. Anyway, I turn, and I was SO SURPRISED! IT WAS JERRY HERMAN!! lol...my eyes got all huge and I sort of gasped. Meanwhile, he had heard mom say his name and looked over, so he saw me make a spectacle of myself with my eyes getting all huge and the little gasp, and he sort of half-grinned. haha. So I looked away for a moment---terribly embarrassed (which, ask anyone who knows me---doesn't happen easily! It's just not the way I pictured first meeting Jerry Herman!). Anyway, Mom encouraged me to go see if we could get a picture and so, I went up to him and this is how things went: "Mr. Herman, can I get a picture with you?" "Sure!" *we prepare for the picture---arms around each other* *Mom snaps picture* "Thank you!" "No problem." *spazz attack* I GOT TO HUG JERRY HERMAN! ARE WE NOT EXCITED ABOUT THIS?! AND GUESS WHAT! JERRY HERMAN's SHOW, "LA CAGE AUX FOLLES" won for "BEST REVIVAL"! The rest of the day just seems blurry and unimportant. We went to church. We went to lunch. We went to "The Producers". Fun ness. But the best part, by far, was meeting Jerry. I mean, it's not even like I had that long with him, or that I got to really TALK to him or pick his brain or anything, but, still, OH MY GOSH! I hugged Jerry Herman! *shreiks* YAY! I'm having problems breathing. |
