Part-Time

Today there is too much part-time,

Makes no sense or reason or rhyme.

Little children having part-time homes,

Shuffled here and there,

Back and forth between parents.

How do they make sense of it all?

Part-time is really no time,

When you are caught in the middle.

Are you here or are you there?

Not really free to be yourself,

Except when you are truly home.

Little ones who cannot speak for themselves,

Being made to feel unloved,

All to satisfy the law,

And is said to be “in the best interest of the child.”

How will they feel about it all

When they are grown up

And have the power to make choices for themselves?
