A Tribute

Although I never knew you,

Your blood through my veins flows,

My mother was your daughter,

She always missed you so.

I often wonder what you thought,

How you felt about your life,

I know that you loved The Lord,

Every day you lived His Word.

You loved to play the mandolin,

No alcohol in your house would you allow.

You kept your family close to you,

Loving and giving them your all.

Too soon from this world you were called,

Many tears for you were shed,

Your little girl thought you were sleeping,

As they laid you in the ground.

My grandfather was left all alone,

With your six little ones,

He missed you so very much,

I know that he did the best he could.

Life was hard for them after you departed,

But they remembered you always,

Loving you for all time,

Through them you continue to live on.

How I wish that I could see your lovely face,

Feel your gentle touch,

How I would love to know you,

And I hope that I have made you proud.

This is my way of honoring you,

It is the very least that I can do,

I like to think that in some way I am like you,

And I hope to one day see your sweet smile!
