Moving On
This poem was written after watching so many women go through trauma with men. It's not my intention in any way to down men cause I know some really wonderful ones. However this is a word of encouragement to those women in dead end relationships. I want them to know that they can move on from a bad relationship and build a better life for themselves. Remember: Feedback is always appreciated ~Charlisa
Why is it we stay in relationships that bring us pain? Hoping and praying for the strength to maintain. Why is it we let the ones that say they love us bring us so much hurt? Why do we let them beat us, cheat on us, basically treat us like dirt Ladies when are we gonna finally say, "Enough is enough!" Instead of sitting there taking his abuse from sunup to sunup When are we going to be able to look in the mirror with pride Knowing with confidence that we're not letting some man take us for a ride We say we're strong and independent when we know its not true In fact most of us are simply just waiting for a "good man" to come through And then when he arrives it starts all over again The cycle of good times then hard times Wheel keeps spinnin' round and round again And you're sitting there sayin', "I really can't stand this man." Girl get off the merry go round and Stand on your feet Hold you head up Put a smile of your face Don't wallow in defeat See in order for someone else to truly love you To yourself you must be true You have to take pride in who you are Don't let anyone else define you Take stock of yourself: the good and the bad Then ehance the good and eliminate the bad And be a you that you're truly proud of Once thats accomplished don't waver and fall As soon as Mr-never-been-good-enough decides to call Tell him straight up from beginning to end That you're too good to take his mess again Tell him you're through with letting him break your heart Remind him that you're a queen and not just some tart Tell him you've got purpose, significance and goals And you refuse to let him turn you into his personal 'hoe' Tell him you'd "rather be alone than be unhappy" Ask him to return your credit card and your car keys Tell him it's over and done with and you're finally through with having men like him around when they don't respect you Now move forward girl Make this your motto: I deserve the best Put faith in God, trust Him to do the rest Girl live your life without the trauma and the stress Remembering that she who loves herself is on the road to success Love yourself even when it seems that noone else does And keep your eyes open for that blessing from above
