| Hello, friends of Tommy Riggs! As you probably know, I first met and worked with Tommy in the fall of 1962 while I was employed at radio station KPBA in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. As I grew to know him, I was amazed at how our senses of humor meshed so completely, and was also impressed with his musical talent. At the time I was extremely fascinated with the art of audio recording. This resulted in a Sunday afternoon session held in a meeting room at the Simmons Bank in Pine Bluff. Several songs were recorded on reel-to-reel tape. Thus began a multiyear association of recording sessions and songwriting. At the time, Tommy was using the stage name "Tom Payton", so these tapes will be referenced by that name where appropriate. Digging back through my archives, I was recently surprised to discover these recordings sound almost as if they were recorded yesterday! Albeit, somewhat primitive by today's standards. First of all, there was the daunting task of removing mold deposits from these long-unplayed tapes which presented a health hazard, then repacking, further cleaning and replacing broken splices, etc. I have remastered many of the tapes and will be presenting them here for those of you who may have damaged or lost your copies... Now first of all, these copies are for your listening pleasure only. Due to copyright and other considerations, in no way are they for commercial use. I am only charging for materials and time involved in restoration and duplicating from the original masters that were recorded by me whether live or in my studios. These originals were done at my expense at the time, and for pleasure only. If you wish to obtain a copy to replace any lost or damaged ones, contact me by clicking on the button below. Thank you very much. Charles Okle, Jr. P.S. There also exists close to twenty demos of songs that Tom and I wrote together through the years. If you have a serious interest in publishing, and the means to promote these original songs, please inquire... |
