Ken Parsons, Jr.
I had heard Ken on the air in Pine Bluff for many years, but finally met him when I went to work for Charles Penix and Ken Kesterson at KCLA on West 28th in 1964.  Ken had lots of stories to tell about the radio station, including the claim that the call letters actually stood for Ken and Charlie's Lunatic Asylum. KCLA, get it?  Well, it WAS funny back then.  Things could get quite hectic at times behind the scenes.  Things that the audience was very unaware of.  One of the most famous incidents to occur at the studio (which was substantiated by Ken Kesterson) was about when a young Elvis Presley passed through town during the time he was appearing on the Louisiana Hayride.  Elvis was said to have tossed a cigarette butt on the newly carpeted floor and was promptly thrown out by management.  Ken was a great mentor to me in my early radio years, and we all miss him very much since his passing...
