TOMwaits
Tom Waits is a lot like anchovies. Once considered a delicacy and now looked upon with disgust. Either way, he is certainly an acquired taste. I hold both the old and new Tom Waits in the highest of regards. His stories of outcasts, circus freaks, broken hearts, broken bones, and the stranger parts of life have become a sort of gasoline for my art. Over the years, he has not let current trends or musical fads influence his work and has always been so, painfully original that it nearly makes you sick (like eating an anchovy). My most ultimate goal in life would be to collaborate with him in some sort of film much like Jarmusch got to with Down By Law. Tom Waits is the kind of sui generis artist I aspire to become.
