I have often called Picasso�s The Old Guitarrist my favorite painting. It was these series of paintings though, that taught me something very interesting about myself: I notice differences in light and value before I notice differences in color or hue. These paintings had an influence on my drawings, paintings, and even videos as I began to explore the real importance of color. Color was what defined these works but it is the misuse of color in them that inspired me. I find that much of my work now focuses more on realism through correct values rather than correct colors.
